Leeds University student Richard Mayne was also killed in the MH17 disaster. The 20-year-old had picked the flight specifically because he was diabetic and needed a stopover, his devastated dad said. The maths and finance undergraduate was on board the flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur as he travelled to Perth, Australia.

Former RAF team leader Stephen Anderson is one of the 10 Britons killed in the devastating crash. The 44-year-old is a former RAF search and rescue co-ordinator grew up and worked in Britain. He moved to Penang in Malaysia four years ago with his wife Joanna, 37, where he worked as a technician for Maersk Drilling, the Daily Telegraph reported.

Victim Ben Pocock was travelling to Australia after finishing his second year of his International Business BSc at Loughborough University. The keen sportsman, of Keynsham near Bristol, tweeted on Monday: “Didn’t fail my exams. Still going to Australia.” Ben had a leaving night out with pals before catching the fateful flight bound for Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.
