PUTRAJAYA, July 27 — The government is constantly engaging youths and understands their aspirations in its efforts to build a better future for the country, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

He said the government wanted youths to use their idealism and creative ability to not only capitalise on opportunities provided by the government but also make their own contributions to society.


He said in the struggle to attain this objective, they would place high hopes of getting wide access to quality education, right from primary school up to the tertiary level.


This access to quality education, he said, was the responsibility of the government.


Najib added that so long as the youth were willing to put in the effort, study hard and be equipped with the requisite skills, they would be able translate their ambitions into reality.


“That is why we have implemented national transformation policies; we are doing it today, but the results will be reaped in the years to come,” he said at a breaking of the fast function with student leaders of higher educational institutions and leaders of youth groups at his official residence Seri Perdana here today.


The prime minister cited several government initiatives as examples, such as book vouchers for students, assistance for primary and secondary school students, among others, while other quarters only raised issue after issue and made promises while not in power.


He said the government’s record clearly proved the nation’s success, and that Malaysia had a government that hoped to get close to youth through various platforms such as the One Million Youth Gathering, National Youth Leaders Convention and the latest, a volunteer programme dubbed 1Malaysia Youths For You (1M4U).


Najib also said leaders were normal human beings who would feel content at being able to extend assistance and bring joy to those in need.


“Personally, I will feel satisfaction in my day if I can help orphans, the poor or disabled. This is the satisfaction of being a leader and as a person,” he said.


At the function, the prime minister also received birthday cards from the youth leaders in conjunction with his 59th birthday.
After breaking fast, Najib performed the Maghrib prayers with the guests and and also spent some time with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) students who won the national-level robotics competition (Robocon) 2012.


The team will also be participating in an international competition in Hong Kong next month.


Also present at the event were the prime minister’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin, Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Razali Ibrahim. — Bernama

bis tu?dia kan PM, semua jabatan under dia termasuk Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat....so JKM tak bantu orphan, poor and disable ka????baitulmal lagi?kutip2 zakat then amik masuk poket sendiri ker duit tu????
