Lagu smoke on the water ni kan, memang dari dulu banyak kaitan ngan drug abuse, tapi kalau study liriks dia,
ia cuma ceritakan pengalaman mereka dari mula sampai kat montreux, nak buat rekod pakai mobile studio iaitu studio seperti bas, mereka nak duk kat gambling house yang kebetulan waktu tu si frank zappa tengah main gig, ada peminat gile pergi bakar pentas tu pulak, sampai satu bangunan terbakar.

lepas tu mereka kena pindah carik tempat lain, dah la kesuntukkan masa untuk dateline Machinehead album, last2 mereka duduk kat lagi satu hotel, dan hotel tu la tempat mereka buat rekoding ngan wayar2 semua keluar dari hotel masuk kat dalam mobile studio tu. Pasal tu musim salji, jadi hotel tu takde pelanggan, satu hotel DP punya.
Yang funky claude dalam liriks ni ini ialah promoter bagi pentas gambling house yang kebakaran tu,
dan smoke on the water , ialah satu gambaran air tasik geneva, lepas tu fire in the sky ialah api yang tengah menjulang tinggi kat gambling house tu.
Aku ada gambar lake geneva ni memang lawa la.
