Dinosour ditemui di Pahang

PETALING JAYA: Fossil remains of a carnivorous “fish-eating” dinosaur has been discovered in Malaysia, with Universiti Malaya set to unveil the evidence today.

Discovered in the rural interiors of Pahang, the fossil remains of the spinosauridae dinosaur are believed to be from the late Mesozoic era, most likely from the Cretaceous period between 65 million and 145.5 million years ago.

This is believed to be the first time that fossil remains of a dinosaur have been found in Malaysia.

The dinosaur remains had been identified by a team led by Associate Professor Dr Masatoshi Sone of the university’s geology department in collaboration with reptile paleontology specialist Professor Ren Hirayama from Tokyo’s Waseda University.

Spinosauridae is a particular family of carnivorous dinosaurs characterised by its elongated, crocodile-like skulls with conical teeth that had either very tiny or with no serrations.

Another spinosauridae fossil had also been discovered in Australia in 2011, before which the species was believed to have existed only in the northern hemisphere.

Scientists had discovered a 125-million-year-old neck vertebrae identical to that of a Baryonx in Victoria, Australia.

Dr Masatoshi will be attending today’s press conference, along with Pahang Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob, UM vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Mohd Amin Jalaludin and the Science Faculty dean Professor Datuk Dr Mohd Sofian Azirun.

Fosil 'Dinosaur Makan Ikan' Ditemui Di Pahang

PETALING JAYA: Tinggalan fosil dinosour karnivor 'makan ikan' telah ditemui di Malaysia dan Universiti Malaya dijangka bersedia untuk mendedahkan buktinya pada Selasa.

Ditemui di kawasan pedalaman luar bandar di Pahang, tinggalan fosil dinosaur 'spinosauridae' yang dipercayai dari era lewat Mesozoic ini berkemungkinan besar dari tempoh zaman Cretaceous iaitu antara 65 juta dan 145.5 juta tahun lalu.

Dipercayai ini menjadi kali pertama fosil dinosaur ditemui di Malaysia.

Fosil dinosaur ini telah dikenal pasti oleh pasukan yang diketuai oleh Profesor Madya Dr Masatoshi Sone dari jabatan geologi universiti itu dengan kerjasama pakar paleontologi reptilia Profesor Ren Hirayama dari Universiti Waseda di Tokyo.

'Spinosauridae' adalah sebuah keluarga tertentu dinosaur karnivor yang mempunyai ciri-ciri tengkorak memanjang seperti buaya dengan gigi berbentuk kon sama ada sangat kecil atau tanpa gerigi.

Satu lagi fosil 'spinosauridae' telah ditemui di Australia pada tahun 2011, di mana sebelum ini spesies ini dipercayai hanya wujud di hemisfera utara.

Ahli-ahli sains telah menemui leher vertebrata berusia 125 juta tahun yang sama dengan Baryonx di Victoria, Australia.

Dr Masatoshi akan menghadiri sidang akhbar pada Selasa , bersama-sama dengan Menteri Besar Pahang Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob, Naib Canselor UM Profesor Datuk Dr Mohd Amin Jalaludin dan Dekan Fakulti Sains Profesor Datuk Dr Mohd Sofian Azirun.

Macam yg no 1 tu rasanya.

tapi spesis ni dalem jurassic park, makan orang ni, bukan makan ikan.

ye sy nk gambar fossil plz...tk sabar..sbb saya peminat dinosaur... dah penat dah tengok biawak, buaya dan jugak barney and friends...tu sme cicit2 dinosaur!
