“Tomorrow Cantabile” Holds First Script Reading, Joo Won and Shim Eun Kyung Show Promising Performances
Upcoming remake of the popular Japanese drama “Nodame Cantabile,” now officially titled “Tomorrow Cantabile,” held its first script reading.
The first script reading for the upcoming KBS drama was held on August 23. The photos from the script reading were just released, heightening the hype for the remake.
The main cast members, including Joo Won, Shim Eun Kyung, Go Kyung Pyo, and Park Bo Gum, were all present at the reading.
The young cast members Joo Won, Shim Eun Kyung, and Go Kyung Pyo all came fully prepared with extensive studies on their respective characters, impressing the staff present at the script reading. They also added a personal touch to the already well-loved characters, which could be seen through their reading at the first meeting.
Joo Won, who will play the main lead role in the drama, has been said to have had extensive lessons on piano, violin, and conducting for four months prior to the reading.
“Tomorrow Cantabile” will start airing in October.

Shim Eun Kyung Meets “Nodame Cantabile” Star Ueno Juri
Actress Shim Eun Kyung has come face to face with Japanese actress Ueno Juri ahead of the release of forthcoming KBS2 drama “Tomorrow Cantabile.” The drama is based on a series of Japanese manga novels called “Nodame Cantabile,” which tells the tale of a quixotic young pianist who falls in love with a budding composer.
The manga series spawned a hit television drama adaptation in Japan, with Unero Juri playing the title role of Nodame. Shim Eun Kyung will be playing the role of Seol Ne Il, a character based on Nodame, in the new KBS2 series.
The two stars had the chance to meet as part of the 10th Anniversary Korea-Japan Festival 2014 in Seoul on September 14, and posed for a photograph in front of a large white piano. The Japanese star explained that she would be sending her Korean counterpart her support as shooting on the series continues.
Earlier this week, Group 8, the company that is responsible for producing the drama, released still pictures taken from a scene shot outdoors, as well as promotional shots of Shim Eun Kyung and male lead Joo Won.

“Tomorrow Cantabile” Makers Unveil Joo Won and Shim Eun Kyung Filming Stills 
The makers of forthcoming KBS2 drama “Tomorrow Cantabile” have released a collage of still images taken during the filming of a scene from the new series. The pictures feature the show’s two lead actors (Joo Won and Shim Eun Kyung) in an outdoor scene that seems to have been shot in a park.
According to the production team, the scene was filmed on September 10 at a location in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province, on the outskirts of Seoul.
Promotional pictures of both Joo Won and Shim Eun Kyung have also been released in the past few days.
The drama is based on “Nodame Cantabile,” a series of Japanese manga novels that has previously been made into a live action drama for Japanese television.
The protagonists are aspiring musicians, and the actors already look the part in the photographs, which feature Shim Eun Kyung carrying a shoulder bag emblazoned with a large treble clef.
The drama is set to begin airing on October 13.

JOO WON HONES HIS MUSICAL MOJO FOR “TOMORROW CANTABILE”
He’s following in the footsteps of Tamaki Hiroshi, and it’s a steep climb for Joo Won as the Japanese actor is famous for his role as a genius musician and aspiring conductor in Nodame Cantabile. However, Joo Won’s up for the challenge of playing the same role in Tomorrow Cantabile, filling his waking hours with lots of violin and conducting practices.
Today, photos of the actor’s intense lessons have been unveiled; he’s clearly passionate about his practice sessions. Joo Won has been deep in piano, violin, and conducting lessons for more than five months, taking them up immediately after being cast in the lead role. This is not an easy endeavor, but according to his teacher and the production crew, he devotes tremendous effort and has a very sincere attitude that his musical instinct has eventually taken over. He’s like a sponge, able to absorb what he’s taught, and surprising everyone that he’s quickly on track.
We’ll find out if all his hard work has paid off when Tomorrow Cantabile debuts his musical abilities on October 13th on KBS.

He is also taking up conducting lessons from Lee Jong Jin, the musical director for the drama, who said, "I'm surprised at how hardworking Joo Won is. Even with his busy schedule and other projects, he is really making time for his preparations for the drama."
The director added, "Even talented music majors are difficult to instruct, especially with their bad habits, but Joo Won has a great attitude. He is meticulous, and he's also absorbs the lesson fast, which is a good trait to have when learning music."
