Penang critic claims state security assaulted him
Ong Eu Soon, a vocal critic of the Pakatan Rakyat government, claimed he was physically assaulted by several men wearing the state’s voluntary patrol unit uniforms in Farlim, Penang, last night.
Ong said the incident occurred about 10.45pm while he was attending a Chinese temple dinner held in front of the Farlim market.
“Suddenly, several men wearing the voluntary patrol unit (PPS, Pasukan Patrol Sukarela) approached me and attacked me with their helmets,” Ong stated in a police report lodged at the Bandar Baru police station.

Lim Sian See
At 10:45pm (about 3 hours ago), one of my FB friends, Ong Eu Soon , got badly beaten-up by the Penang PPS (Pasukan Peronda Sukarela) - The state-sanctioned goon squad in purple.
52 years old Ong is an environmentalist, and activist and a native Penang lang. He has also worked with the NGO, AlLIRAN.
Recently, he has been very vocal about the RM6.3 billion Penang Tunnel project.
He was walking in the Farlim Market in Bandar Baru Pinang when he was suddenly, 10 thugs in the purple PPS uniform rushed him out of the blue and beat him up with helmets and fists and also kicked him repeatedly.
Apparently these people have been looking for him for a few days now and this appeared to be a planned attack.
He has made a police report and is receiving medical treatment now.
Let's wish brave Mr Ong, a speedy recovery and hope that he gets justice.
There will be a press conference tomorrow morning on this where more details will be revealed.
We demand the Penang State Govt explain itself and hand-over the thugs
We also demand that the very existence of PPS be reviewed as this is not the first incident. Previously, a reporter was also beaten up by the PPS.
How can the Penang State Govt sanction such gangsters to roam the streets?
This news has just been reported by the Chinese newspaper: http://www.kwongwah.com.my/news/2014/08/18/7.html

If you are vocal in Penang, you either get beaten up or sued..
Note: In Feb of this year, Ong Eu Soon has previously been threatened with legal action by the Penang Tunnel consortium company.
The victim has always been very vocal against the Penang Tunnel project.
When billions are at stake, anything can happen.
This is part of what the Penang Tunnel company wrote:
"It is the collective view of the company and the consultants that Ong's ‘article’ is defamatory to the project as well as to the state of Penang. The article in question, and other similar articles written by him, has defamed the consortium's reputation to the extent that its credibility, business integrity, and public goodwill have been unduly impaired.
We are currently seeking legal advice to take appropriate action against Ong. We will pursue this course of action separately."

The Penang PPS is headed by DAP ADUN Sg Puyu, YB Phee Boon Poh, an EXCO for the Penang State Govt.
This is a video of YB Phee wearing the PPS purple uniform:
