PETALING JAYA: The Form Four student who plunged to his death from an apartment in Bandar Mahkota Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, had been troubled lately by a relationship that had apparently turned sour.
Andy Yeap, 17, was believed to have jumped from an apartment block at about 7am on Thursday due to relationship problems with his 15-year-old girlfriend.
He was believed to have met the girl on Facebook about six months ago although they had yet to meet each other face-to-face.
It is learnt that the girl had recently asked to break up with him but Andy had refused.
A check on a Facebook account bearing Andy’s name and pictures showed that he had put up numerous postings indicating his sadness over the strained relationship.
It is learnt that on the day of the incident, Andy had also sent several messages to his girlfriend via Facebook and SMS to persuade her to continue their relationship.
One of the messages chillingly read: “I hope that I can still hear one last sentence from you. Do you still love me? I have done much wrong. I am very sorry. I am leaving now.”
Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Rashid Abdul Wahab confirmed the death, adding that the case had been classified as sudden death.
Police, said ACP Abdul Rashid, were looking for Andy’s girlfriend to record her statement.
