Running Man and its main cast may have enjoyed immense success since the dangerously addictive variety programme kicked off in 2010, but member Lee Kwang Soo recently became the proud owner of another prestigious achievement: bagging the Actor’s Excellence Award at this year’s Korea Drama Awards for his role in It’s Okay, That’s Love.

When this was brought up at yesterday’s press conference for Race Start Season 2 in Singapore (organised by ONE), Kim Jong Kook, Song Ji Hyo, Ji Suk Jin and HaHa wasted no time in accusing Kwang Soo – teasingly, of course – of turning into an arrogant diva.

“He’s very cocky right now; he knows he’s a superstar,” deadpanned Jong Kook in fluent English, to which Suk Jin added in Korean, “We can’t have meals at the same table.”

When HaHa divulged that Kwang Soo’s entourage has increased to a team of 15 people (five hairdressers, five makeup artists and five stylists), the gang immediately descended upon their “superstar” to pretend to preen him and pour him a glass of water, while Kwang Soo sat back with a mock look of conceited contentment on his face.

All jokes aside, Jong Kook clarified that the 190cm-tall “Giraffe” (as Kwang Soo is affectionately termed) is “a humble guy” and “isn’t going to change”. However, if he does… “I’ll hit him!”

While Kwang Soo may not be treated like royalty (at least not to the extent that the members kidded about), he is known as the “Prince of Asia”, a title conferred to him during a Running Man stint in Vietnam.

“I got my nickname because the Vietnamese fans were cheering very enthusiastically for me,” he said. “I remember that very vividly!”

After four years and hundreds of episodes on the show, his co-stars had memorable moments of their own to share as well.

“I won’t give the cliché answer that all the episodes are special (even though that is true), so I would say the first one is my most memorable because it was a big step for everybody at the time,” said HaHa.

Ji Hyo picked the episodes where only the regular Running Man cast were involved (“That was when we could really bond together as a team”); while Jong Kook, who admires sports stars, said the programmes that involved athletes were really good.

In addition to being thankful for the chance to have Jackie Chan on the show, Suk Jin revealed to us in a separate interview that he will always remember beating the formidable Jong Kook in ddakji, a traditional Korean game. “It’s memorable because I beat Jong Kook,” he chuckled.

During our 20-minute small group chat with Suk Jin after the press conference, we learned how close the cast is even when the cameras aren’t rolling.

“There’s a café that we visit often to just chat for long hours at a time,” he said. “There was one time we talked from 5pm to 4am the next day without buying anything. I think the owner didn’t like us very much after that! (laughs)”

He even divulged – perhaps with slight exaggeration – their drinking habits: Kwang Soo drinks “20 times a month”, a record beaten only by the troupe’s heaviest drinker Ji Hyo at “30 times a month”. (For those wondering what the spunky “Ace” is like when she’s drunk, sorry – that question was immediately shot down by moderators.)

Other than those two, Suk Jin revealed that the rest of the Running Man members aren’t regular drinkers: Jong Kook and Yoo Jae Suk, who couldn’t make it to the fan meet with Gary due to a clash in schedules, don’t take alcohol at all, while he and HaHa do so only a few times a year. Because of this, they indulge in coffee and orange juice when they hang out.

game kapel dh terlalu byk, n bila diorg main konsep mcm ni, less interaction among the members..interaction among members tu salah satu sebab org follow running man

i kalau bab team runningman vs team lain i tak brape kisah sgt, yg tak brape gemar tu kalau bab couple couple. nak plak dpt guest yg segan2 kucem. or jenis yg tak sporting. i sangka baikla mayb runningman ni platform terbaik nk perkenalkan retis masing2. sbb kalau masuk rm confirm 1 asia tgk kan?
