Chef Wan turns his nose up at CNN’s food ranking

Celebrity chef says Malaysia should have taken top spot and not been ranked sixth.
KUALA LUMPUR: Chef Wan feels that Malaysia should have clinched the top spot on CNN’s “Which destination has the world’s best food?” poll published three days ago.
“My top five choices in terms of variety should be: number one Malaysia, followed by Italy, Thailand, Japan and India,” the Malaysian celebrity chef was quoted as saying by Astro Awani.
While his views may seem biased given the fact that he is Malaysian himself, his reasoning was sound enough: “I see food as varieties and flavours that reflect the culture and food, and that is why Malaysia should be the world’s best food destination”
Malaysia had only come out sixth in the poll garnering a meagre 265 votes, narrowly beating out Hong Kong with 236 votes.
The poll however did acknowledge the diversity in the Malaysian cuisine due to its multi-racial makeup and even cheekily referenced the constant battles between Indonesians and Malaysians claiming ownership of certain dishes.
Another bone he had to pick was that of the Philippines coming out above Malaysia in the polls, saying rather bluntly that the country’s cuisine was among the worst in Asia.
“The Philippines is known to have the worst food in Asia, ask any chef and they will tell you I am right,” Chef Wan remarked.
Philippines received an impressive 1,528 votes that secured the country a second place on the polls.
The winner Taiwan had a whopping 8,242 votes which CNN attributed to “its simple culinary philosophy”.
Italy came in third with 810 votes, followed by Thailand (470 votes) and Japan (443 votes).
The king of spices India received 205 votes for managing “to make vegetarian food taste consistently great (which) certainly deserves some kind of Nobel prize”.
Greece and Vietnam occupied the bottom places of the ranking by securing 167 and 162 votes respectively.

thai dgn Malaysian sedap, kaler2 pun cantik. tp ada makanan Malaysia rasa apa benda ntah.masam2 sikit, manis2 sikit, pahit2 skit.
Singapore ntah apa2. caca marba. takde identiti
