Putrajaya, Malaysia, 7th March 2014 – The 6th Putrajaya 2014 will return to its home in Precinct 2, Putrajaya this coming March. The International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta event will be held over the course of four days from March 27th to 30th, featuring another amazing line-up of international balloonists and a new variety of attractions and side events.

The announcement of sponsors and international balloonists was revealed yesterday at a press conference event in Everly Putrajaya Hotel.

Mohammad Sobri Saad, Chairman of the 6th Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta said, “We are delighted to once again host such talented balloonists from all over the world, and offer great opportunities to brands that truly see their potential in elevating their names to an international level through our locally organized event”. “We believe that homegrown events like the Fiesta presents not only brands in Malaysia but the entire nation as a more wholesome tourist destination in Southeast Asia,” added Sobri. The 6th Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta is one of the 88 events that is listed in Perbadanan Putrajaya’s Calendar of Events.

The launch event unveiled four special-shaped balloons that will be attending 2014’s Fiesta. The flying superbike balloon, largest in the world, all the way from the United Kingdom will be flown by Per Lindstrand, an ice cream cone-shaped balloon from Belgium flown by Benoit Simeons, a heart-shaped balloon from Taiwan piloted by Yu-Ju Ha and the ever popular return of the Darth Vader balloon from Belgium piloted by Benoit Lambert.

Other international normal-shaped balloons that were revealed were from Hong Kong, Korea, Spain, France, Australia and Vietnam.

To symbolize their commitment towards the event, the fiesta’s sponsors and partners were also in attendance during the conference – UMW Toyota Motors (as Vehicle Sponsor), Mountain Dew (as Extreme Zone Sponsor), Putra Perdana Development Berhad (as Tethered Balloon Ride Sponsor), KakaoTalk Malaysia (as Balloon Sponsor), Everly Putrajaya (as Official Hotel), Puncak Mutiara Kristal Sdn Bhd (as F&B Sponsor), Doof Industries (as Picnic Area Sponsor), Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd and KLIA Transit (as Event Partners), and 8TV, Cari.com.my, 988 FM, Suria FM, Red FM, Capital FM and Tom Manas Outdoor (as Media Partners). The Fiesta also introduced Walt Disney Studios Malaysia, Samsung Malaysia Electronics and UNITAR International University as their Corporate Booth Sponsors.

Among the exciting new features of the 6th Fiesta this year is the Picnic Area, where visitors are able to pre-book ‘Balloon & Breakfast’ sets and enjoy enchanting views as balloons fly over them. Samsung Malaysia Electronics will host a Photography Contest for photo enthusiasts during the Fiesta, with prizes featuring Samsung Digital Cameras worth up to RM 10,000.

Admission is free. Visitors are encouraged to take the KLIA Transit to Putrajaya as they will be offering members of the public discounts of up to 35% on return ticket sales during the four days. Mobile taxi booking service MyTeksi will also be providing a RM15 cash back promotion for anyone who books a taxi to the event using the MyTeksi mobile application. From the Putrajaya station, members of the public can hop on to the Nadi Putra buses, which will take them directly to the fiesta grounds.
