Apa nak gaduh diorang nak beli 6-10 buah sekali. Lantak kat diorang le. Budget diorang beso so lebih dari mampu. Pada aku the subs will compliment our Scorpene beside dengan 2 buah yang kita ada mana nak cukup untuk cover litoral water kita. |

They are more like gap fillers to work in concert with the older Challenger class(which have been extensively upgraded as well) before a new class of submarines is introduced; which is most likely the A26 advanced new generation submarines. These 6 submarines still pales in comparison to the hordes of submarines fielded by the PLAN though many are old and decrepit. These 6 submarines are as stealthy as current submarines around the world, if not more so with new noise absorbing tech(UDW tech has not changed much), but what makes them outstanding is the sensors and systems they carry.
Singapore will probably field a mix of Archer class and A26 aka Viking class submarines in the near future. Very deadly; especially since they are heavily net-worked with RSN`s surface ships and the RSAF`s MPAs, helicopters and other planes.
In addition, the Archer class becomes more capable than submarines in her class with the internal and external modifications. It is bang for buck. The Swedish will make similar upgrades to thier own Vastergotlands. They have 4 currently and 2 will be upgraded and 2 more will be sold..hmm..i think to Singapore.
The sensors and internal processing systems in the Archer class is just amazing. Singapore`s DSTA has sucessfully integrated a whole slew of new and capable technologies from Israel, Sweden, Singapore, Australia and the US. According to Deftalk, Australian tech is based off the US Sea-wolf attack sub tech. And that tech is now Singapore`s. Sea-wolfs hunt down enemy subs. This would make Singapore`s Archer class even more advanced than their Swedish cousins. |

A forum moderator (who is in the sub industry and worked on the Collins class) from defencetalk.com confirms that US and Australian technology off Collins (which was based off Seawolf and Virginia class) was extensively applied. This includes special anechoic tiles, the technology and application of which were kept secret from the Swedish (apparently due to the misgivings between the Aussies and Swedes over the problems in the Collins class).
Apparently according to him these subs, along with the Collins class are now technologically the most advanced diesel subs in the world, apart from the Oyashio class. |

izinkan hamba mengulas, tak semua sub ada capability ASM, hanya sub's tube yang ada pneumatic ram sahaja capable utk fire ASM. ASM duduk dalam capsule selagi dalam air, bergerak ke permukaan guna booster. Kena tembak dgn pneumatic ram dulu keluar tube, then selepas beberapa meter ia keluar, booster hidup utk bawa capsule tu ke surface. So kalau tkde pneumatic ram, capsule tak dapat di tendang keluar drpd sub. |
