Ji Chang Wook And Won Jin Ah Prepare To Get Frozen And Melt Softly
J Chang Wook plays the director of a reality show in 'Melting Me Softly.'
Accidents can happen. In the upcoming drama Melting Me Softly aka Make Me Melt, the main characters, played by Ji Chang Wook and Won Jin Ah take part in a reality show experiment where they are cryogenically frozen for 24 hours. Scary as that sounds, they fully expect to wake up the next day. Yet, something goes wrong, probably because the pseudo scientific experiment is part of the reality show, Infinite Experiment Heaven, that Ji’s character is directing. Won is a test subject that signs on for the seemingly harmless experiment. Instead of waking up the next day they get frozen for 20 years, opening their eyes in 2019. Not only must they adapt to a different world, where everyone they knew is older, but they have to maintain a rather chilly body temperature to survive. That’s where the melting part comes in. When they become romantically involved and things heat up between them, temperatures rise and things get risky. Although the premise is sci-fi-fantastic, the fear of becoming vulnerable because of love and love being "too hot to handle" will be easy enough for viewers to identify with.
Won Jin Ah volunteers to be frozen on a reality show experiment.
If that already sounds like a fun premise, the tvN drama's screenwriter is Baek Mi Kyung, who wrote the hit comedy Strong Woman Do Bong Soon and the director is Shin Woo Chul who directed Secret Garden, as well as Where Stars Land, Gentleman’s Dignity and Gu Family Book. Yoon Se Ah, who appeared in the hit drama Sky Castle, will play Ji Chang Wook’s first love.
Melting Me Softly is a highly anticipated drama, since it will be Ji Chang Wook’s first TV role since he completed military duty in April. Mandatory military duty is required of all able-bodied Korean men, 18 to 35, and it often prompts a hiatus at the peak of an actor’s career. Even though Ji’s career endured a two-year-break, he is still in demand for dramas and films, having previously appeared in several successful productions, including Empress Ki, Healer, The K2 and Suspicious Partner, Your Name, Fabricated City and The Bros.
It’s only Won Jin Ah’s third drama, having previously appeared in Rain Or Shine and Life, but she has appeared in several films, including Steel Rain and Money.
Melting Me Softly is currently scheduled to premiere on Sept. 28 following the conclusion of the third installment of Arthdal Chronicles.
