Aku dah baca. Tapi dibandingkan dengan banyak-banyak buku Murakami yang lain, yang ini agak membosankan sebab jalan ceritanya tak banyak berubah dari tropa cerita-cerita Murakami.

Oh really? I thought the book was amazing! I slalu rase Japanese has a very wild imagination that is very unique and refreshing. But I haven't read any other book by the author. Care to suggest any?

His best book is Wind up Bird Chronicles, but I quite like The Elphant Vanishes, his collection of short stories. Tapi kalau suka penulis Jepun mungkin kau mau cuba Antologi Monkey Brain Sushi, kebanyakannya penulis-penulis (relatively) baru.

Tak pun cuba penulis klasik Jepun (kurun ke-20) Tanizaki (junichiro), kalau kau suka karya erotik, Kawabata (Yasunari) untuk karya yang memang berperisa Jepun atau Mishima (Yukio), kombinasi kedua-duanya. Atau Naoya Shiga yang digelar Dewa cerpen di Jepun.

Penulis Jepun kesukaan aku Takeshi Kaiko, tapi susah nak dapat novel/ cerpen dia. Tuliusannya agak moden tapi tak off the wall macam Murakami.

Kalau mau betul-betul moden, cuba lihat senarai pemenang anugerah Akutagawa - aku agak anugerah ini lebih mencerminkan taste massa Jepun moden.

Unfortunately, unless you read the original Japanese, Wind up Bird Chronicle yang kita baca adalah karya abridged. But still...

Kinokuniya. Tak pun cuba cari antologi-antologi tulisan Jepun di kedai2 buku terpakai.
