Born in Britain, she started her career in 1970, working in the fashion department at Harpers & Queen in London. Six years later, she moved to New York to join sister publication Harper's Bazaar as its Fashion Editor. After a stint as Senior Editor at New York magazine, controlling the title's fashion and lifestyle coverage, Wintour was named Creative Director of American Vogue in 1983. British Vogue brought her home to London three years later. She stayed for almost two years as Editor in Chief and oversaw the memorable November 1987 issue, which carried a photograph of Christy Turlington shot by David Bailey in Calvin Klein on the cover.

In 1988, she rejoined American Vogue as Editor-in-Chief, eaving her deputy Liz Tilberis to succeed her. In that capacity, she has helped raise over $10 million for AIDS charities since 1990, by organising New York's 7th on Sale fundraising benefits.

Like her image, Wintour's daily regime is legendary. Now based in Manhattan, she wakes up at 5.45am every morning, to go to play tennis, before being professionally made-up, coiffed and chauffeured to the offices of American Vogue.Though one of New York's most prolific party throwers, she never stays at any one event for more than the first ten minutes, preferring to be in bed by 10pm.

Wintour, the daughter of Charles Wintour, former Editor of the Evening Standard, has two children by her first husband, Dr David Schaffer, Chief of Child Psychiatry at Columbia Presbyterian.

i ditch the bergdorf blondes book.. baca separuh je, tak tahan... since too high class, cerita pasal kehidupan orang yang pakai barang berjenama je.. maybe mak datin like this kind of novel.. bagi aku yang biasa-biasa dok dalam rumah teres 2 tingkat dan kena kerja untuk dapatkan rezeki, aku tak boleh menghayati bergdorf blondes

Citer ni ok, not bad. I thought her boss jahat giler, idak ler jahat manerpun. Dah memang kejedie assistant minah ni.Kalau korang pernah kerja ngan boss pompuan yg demanding, yg byk songeh, ade ler ciri2 boss dier. Anyway, entertaining laaa jugak...

Kalau new, tak silap rm39.90. Sekrg tak tau le bape ringgit...

aku rasa kinsella punya book terlalu ringan nak compare ngan buku nih...
yg nih lagi memerlukan kesabaran yang tinggi nak abiskan sbb lagi tebal and tulisan lagi kecik
hehehehe

anyway...this is one of my fav book...
really love the ending

lebih kurang la... on scale 1 to 5, aku bagi 2 untuk bergdorf blondes.. kalau mak datin baca, depa bagi 6 bintang kot! :

Yana ada buku nie. ambik masa gak nak perabih, sebab byk keja kot masa tu.....

overall, nice story. a nice insight into the fashion world. juling2 bijik mata mengingatkan org kerja kat fashion magazines dpt freebies semua tu....

tapi somehow, Yana tak leh nak relate dgn heroine citer nie sebab pada Yana, Yana takkan terima org buat Yana macam nie. I would have quit in about ten minutes kot....

Cerita dia agak slow lah. And plus not a page-turner, pegi balik cerita dia kat office dengan boss dia. Sesuai la nak baca dalam LRT ke, tgh habis bosan ke. Buku dia mmg sangat tebal. Tapi bagi yg dah baca buku tu, memang rasa tak sabar nak tengok movie dia. Sebab tak boleh nak bayangkan betapa kijam nye boss tu, mmg she-devil abis lah.
