Apparently, I was NOT to inform anyone that I was recording Siti untilWednesday after she performs the song at some media event. Now, if Icould only get that dang time machine working...
Anyway, toanswer that one question people have asking: No, I did not take anypictures. I was too focused on my work and I was totally unaware of thebig deal she is. Actually, that's not true. I was just embarrassed toask. But after she left, I did take a picture of the glass she drankfrom.
Asyou can see, those are Siti's lip marks. Probably lip gloss. Covergirl,I presume. While I was clearing out the studio, I was thinking. "Now,if I drank from the same spot of this same glass, we'd practically bekissing!" Almost French too because she drank from the glass and therewould be some backwash. And drinking that water would have her salivaand mine combined.
Then sessions of mental therapy and a restraining order flashed across my mind, and I dumped the glass in the sink.
Butlet me say it now. Hands down, Siti Nurhaliza is the most professionalartist I've ever worked with. (That's not to say that the other artistsI've worked with are not professional.) Especially for someone at herlevel, she is more dedicated to her craft than anyone I know, includingthe crop of reality TV artists who are supposed to have more hunger tosucceed than her. And that kind of professionalism and her command ofher skills are the clear result of many years of discipline anddedication to her craft.
Now, let me take my head out of her ass.
Butalso let me make it clear. I don't know the woman. I do not know whatkind of person she is. (Although I sense that she is a nice person.)She could secretly worship Satan and kick little puppies for all Iknow. All I am saying is that she is very professional and she smellsnice. So professional to the point that I almost feel ashamed for somany of the artists I know who are divas before their time. You can seewhy she is where she is today and more importantly, she deserves hersuccess.
The song I am producing for her is quite unsettling forme. In all honesty, I'd never really wanted to produce Siti becauseI've always thought she already had her own thing going. And I wasnever really into "her thing". Sorry but suicide ballads and asli justaren't on my playlist. The only time I'd want to work with an artist iswhen I can do something that no one would expect them to do. Otherwise, what's the point right?
So now, the opportunity to do somethingdifferent comes along. I take it and do it. Then it hits me. I could beknown as the only dumbass who could actually make Siti Nurhaliza soundbad. I could be the guy who could messed it up with Siti Nurhaliza. It's like getting Celine Dion to sing a song and if it doesn't soundgood, then you know it is NOT Celine Dion's fault.
Everyoneknows that you don't mess up Siti Nurhaliza. She is Malaysia's popdarling. Her fans could hate it. Her fans could hate me.
Thiscould turn me into the Ben Affleck of music producers. This could be mylemon. This could be my Windows ME. This could be my Proton Juara. Thiscould be my Jar Jar Binks. This could be my "Catwoman". This could bemy Multimedia Super Corridor. This could be my Sime Bank. This could bemy Arthur Andersen. (I can only make so many cultural references. Ifyou don't get any of them, you really need to read the news more often.)
"Awww....he had such a good thing going and then he had to go and mess it up for himself by screwing with Siti's sound."
ThenSiti comes up with an Asli album and everyone loves her. And I will endup making karaoke tracks for Air Supply's greatest hits. Now I amreally scared.
Event aper siti nyanyi hari ni?? record lagu baru tu pls!!
