Pursue of a dream job...

Should one child pursue the carrier of dreamwork (which happens to be a HALAL one) despite having the parents failed to see the same, would the child be considered 'Anak Durhaka'? Staying and not proceeding with the one job that your heart's desire of doing, which so happens to be a dreamjob of many people, of getting a good life, good pay, travels a lot and what not, will eventually means sacrificing a big time just to follow the instructions of the parents who wishes the child to do something else, will lead to happiness for the parents and not to the child. BUT should the child insist of doing it for the sake of his or her happiness in his or her own life, would mean that he or she is breaking the parents' heart and thus - 'Anak Durhaka' kah dia?

*Can't find that word best describe 'Anak Durhaka' in English...

What say u lots?

try la slow talk with ur parent.
kalau diorang tak bagi gak .. ikot je cakap diorang ..

at the same time let them see the bright side of your dream job.
if you cant get what your parent want. tell them the truth .
and pray to god to let you success in pursuing the best job for you .. not your dream job.

let say you parent wanted you to be a teacher but you on the other side really want to be an engineer .
dont pray to god to let you be an engineer ..  ask him to let you achieve whats best for you.
ive been in the same situation. my parent wants me to wear white lab coat like they and my brothers does .. me on the other hand prefer to wear uniform with stripes on my shoulder and travel around the world.

its hard at first to convince them ..
but show them that you tried to satisfy them.
dont show that they are wrong.

Sadly (lucky for me) that my pre-U result sucks alot and they dont have any choice else than letting me pursue my dream job. and he good thing now is they are helping me in achieving it . they asked their friends help to get me into the  company. my parent is happy to tell their friend about me pursuing my dream job . im still in process of pursuing it. hopefully ill be selected.

so whats your dream job that you are talking about?

When I was at a younger age, I love bodybuilding. I would love to have a job involving bodybuilding.
I was then an architecture draftperson. I changed to my dream job as a fitness instructor in a Club.
My parents were against the change. But I didn't really give a damn about what they think. I worked for 4 years and then I set up my own gym with a friend.

As years passed, I realised that there was no such thing like a dream job. My dream job turned out to be boring and monotonous. If my dream job can't generate good income, the dream job will become a nightmare job.
So, I ended my so called dream job in 2005. My nightmare was over.

Now I am having a better life and a better job than my dream job even tho I wouldn't call it a dream job.
I love my current job but it was not my dream job from the beginning. So, is there a dream job?

So in other words, what u're trying to say here is - follow kehendak orang tua lebih afdhal dari mengikut kemahuan sendiri?

exactly. Its like my dad wanted so much to run the business when he was younger. so bile dah tua, dia kata might as i well we children do it. Masalahnya that was HIS dream job not mine. Just because dia tak leh do it when he was younger, motif nak suruh i do it now, kan?

I don't know about this. My parent gives me somewhat a free rein and I made some choices that gives them some problem, and minor trouble.

If you're asking from religion point of view, I don't know. Perhap someone more knowledgeable can give some input.

Morally, based on current norms, it's kind of gray...

alamak...DO NOT CHOOSE YOUR CAREER for life for wrong reasons?

first u must ask urself:

1) why am i doing that job?
2) why?
3) why?

is it becoz i like it?

is it becoz my parents wanted it?

is it becoz it has a good pay?

depending on the kind of "job" u wanted i reckon it will be in line with the syariah lah ni, kan

you better pilih job yang you akan rasa seronok dan tak rasa semacam bekerja sebab THAT is another "JOB" to be done.

is not a job - it's YOUR CAREER , YOUR PASSION!!!!!!

jgn ambil things that you are not passionate with !!! nanti jadi semacam :psychological burden" sebab rasa kena buat that job becoz of a job.

Ada different between job dengan career.

just think , reason out with parents, CARI jalan nak tunjuk how would CLIMB the ladder dengan job yang you suka , bagi depa "NAMPAK"  jalan....

parents ni worry kalau they fear that ydesired job then , i guess they have no idea what you're doing but if you could convince them as to how you would climb up the ladder of success with the desired job, then at least the worry will be keep aside lah kot.

I didn't mean that. What I was saying that your dream job may not be your dream job. Circumstances will change. You may find your dream job becoming stressful and boring.

Take an air stewardess for instance. Many pretty girls dream to become one. Probably the first few years may be exciting. They get free travel round the world. There will come a time where flying will become boring. A dream job no longer a dream job.

Many people are changing job from time to time. We are looking for a better pay job with better prospect. In my opinion, there is no dream job. All we are looking for is cari makan.

Cheers.

ermmm...kekadang i terfikir, sedangkan kita dgn anak sendiri pun berlainan citarasa makanan...cemanalah ada mak/ayah nak suruh anak suka pd apa yg dia suka....funny but it's real especially for those who thinks MONEY is everything in life...

will you be happy in your dreamjob if the happiness is not shared by your parents

asked this Q to yourself, find the answer that resonant with what your heart is telling you, and you take it from there

I do not agree that parents mapped out their child lives to fit what is their dream, as a parent they are there to be the light that guides us thru the dark tunnel, and not to be the darkness that is waiting us at the end of the tunnel

its not about disobeying ur parents..its about how should you convince ur parents that you are able to carry the burden, risks, obligations resulted from ur act of not following their 'dream'..prove them that alternatives are outside there to be achieved and succeeded
