Toyota Rush in ...
UMW Toyota has announced that the new seven-seater Toyota Rush will start going on sale starting from Feb 1
The two-wheel drive urban SUV, which is assembled in Indonesia, is available in three variants, the standard 1.5G in auto and manual form as well as the upmarket sports version, the auto-only 1.5S.
The choice of powertrain is the 3SZ-VE 1.5l twin cam VVT-i block, offering 107bhp at 6,000rpm and a max torque of 141Nm at 4,400rpm, and transmissions available are a four-speed auto and five-speed manual
Suspension type is MacPherson struts in front and a multi-link live axle with coil springs at the rear, and as for brakes, it's of the front disc/rear drum variety. The Rush comes equipped with 16-inch alloys, and wears 215/65 profile tyres.
To accentuate the sport-oriented lifestyle leanings, the Rush comes dressed with an aerokit package - this is made up of front and rear bumper diffusers, side skirts and wheel arch overfenders.
Elsewhere, you get roof rails and a roof bumper protector, which protects the rear bumper from scratches when moving cargo in and out of the luggage area.
The interior, finished in an ivory and sandalwood shade, is quite generous in terms of size - the usable length is 2,440mm while width is 1,385mm, with decent amounts of spacing between each row of seats as well as side distance within each row.
What else? Well, there's quite a bit in the way of storage space, and a secondary bank of central, roofline-mounted air-conditioning vents means rear occupants don't bake unless the driver does.
For the 1.5G (both manual and auto), there's only a one airbag as well as a single force limiter-equipped seatbelt.
To get two airbags and force limiters on both front seatbelts along with ABS and EBD, you'll have to look at the Rush 1.5S, which also features a more comprehensive equipment level.
What you get here over the standard G specified vehicle are projector headlamps, fog lamps, a rear spoiler with high mount LED stop lamp, a two-DIN audio head unit (the G version features a single DIN unit), leather wrapped four-spoke steering wheel and gear knob and chrome-finished power retractable side mirrors.
As for pricing, the Rush 1.5G manual rolls in at RM85,888, while the 1.5G auto is going for RM88,888, and the upmarket 1.5S is priced at RM94,888 (all on-the-road, with insurance).
Four body colours are available, these being Blue Metallic, Black Mica, Silver Mica Metallic and Champagne Mica Metallic.
UMW Toyota is targeting sales of 600 units monthly for the Rush for 2008; it sounds like a pretty conservative figure that should be more than easily met in the inevitable er, blitz for one of these. |
