Career as Chef

Sy sebenarnya berminat nak jadi chef..memang naturally suka and minat masak sesangat. So korang tau tak kolej or uni mana yg paling bagus courses dia..and yang paling penting yang ajar masak menggunakan bahan2 yang halal..takda wain, arak, dan seumpanya yang haram.

macam mana career path dia? usually start from what level...yg sy tau paling tinggi ialah sous chef..benarkah? usually fresh diploma chef start what level? and how the working condition? kerja 7 hari seminggu? annual leave semua ada? and usually fresh diploma chef starting slaary about how much?

setau sy la............. bab2 hotel ni uitm yg top utk uni umum..............
n byk gak la ex-uitm dlm industri ni........

kalu uni swasta maybe lg byk......

soal gaji atau benefit no problem.....

sbb demand mmg tingi..... kalu english cun, lagi snang nak p mana2.......

kalo pilih uitm, dia nyer syllabus dia try to include halal2 stuff only.
dulu kawan aku pegi sunway buat chef dia ada course wine tasting, n etc...
so up to u lah.

aku rasa kan, kalo nak belajar kite kena luaskan pengalaman dulu. org ajar gune wine ker, ape ke...kena belajar apa kesan dia. aku bukan pro bahan alcohol cume sbg student attitude kena betul baru ngam.
bidang chef ni mmg payah, the more u can experiment, the better. kalo taknak gune wine, apa subsitute dia, n sbgnye...

anyway, good luck in being a good muslim chef!


p/s: sampai skrg aku cari gelatin halal takdak kat pasaran. nak buat cheesecake pun tak senang.

orkid penah g kursus hospitaliti, ada g mlwt resort melaka..dia bg jenguk dapur..smbg2 gak ngan chef kat situ..lupe name lak..tp chef tu glemer kot sbb my fren ckp penah masuk mjlh ape ntah. yg mengajar kitorg tu indian, so dia mntk chef tu perjelas isu halal haram...katanya, dlm dunia chef2 ni, niat kne betul. sume pd niat kita. camne nk serve klu chef sendri xtau rs. katanya dia penah mkn pork sbb dia nk tau rs, nk blaja...n katanya pork adlh best meat compare ngan meat2 lain..tp smpai situ je la. stakat nk blaja..dia training pun kt negara omputih, italy ke france..orkid lupe lak... well, tu pendpt dia...orkid x bepe stuju pun

emm....sy mmg selalu tgk chef2 masak kat chanel 703 asian food chanel astro tu..and sy tau almost masakan ada wine...rasanya omputih tak leh masak kot kalo takda wine..

maybe UITM ok...

apapun...bagi saya...haram tetap haram.

wah sampai sanggup makan pork? alamak ni tak leh la...HARAM.

em..tapi sy biasa la tgk chef masak kat tv.ok je feeling tgk pork..tp tak la smpi rasa nak makan..amik teknik je cukup..

ishh...kalau dah namanya haram tu tak kiralah niat untuk belajar ke hapa...kalau takat pegang and peluk2 lagi babi tu takpe sebab senang je nak samak. dah kalau masuk dalam perut then jadik darah daging semer pehal pulok?

my brother final year dekat uitm. majikan yang biasanya hotel atau restaurant tak pentingkan korang belajar dekat mana. dalam industri ini yang penting adalah pengalaman. kalau belajar tinggi melangit pun tapi bab praktikal tak lepas, mana orang nak bagi gaji tinggi. gaji pun based on experienced korang. like my brother, masa sem lepas dia praktikal kat hotel kat penang. my brother jenis yang rajin & suka bertanya. even orang cuti dia masih lagi datang kerja. sepanjang 4 bulan tu, dia rotate dekat 3 kitchen. masuk main kitchen, banquet & cold kitchen. management dah siap offer dia untuk kerja kat situ lepas dia grad nanti.

tapi untuk industri ini, hotel kebanyakannya suka pekerja lelaki. sebabnya lelaki mempunyai tenaga yang kuat. ye lah... derang pun kena jugak angkat2 barang. melainkan chef yang dah pangkat besar tak de le. my bro cakap, chef perempuan jaga cold kitchen. dekat main & banquet 99% lelaki.

dari segi bekerja, ikut pada shift & management le. cuti semua ada. gaji pulak, basic salary chef ni bergantung pada hotel. ada yang tinggi ada yang rendah. tapi derang ada insentif. yang ini bergantung kepada performance hotel. ada bintang2 dia. kalau bulan tu dapat banyak star, maka lebat le insentif tu.

mesti tak baca latest update dari mufti + sains nih.
wine boleh dimasukkan didalam makanan hanya ketika makanan tu tgh dimasak pd suhu yg tinggi, sbb alcohol properties of the wine akan evaporate n meninggalkan rasa anggur pada makanan. tu jer.

wine tu haram sbb ada alcohol. pecaya tak dah ada manufacturer wine takdak alcohol?
dari Australia Eden Vale menang award utk wine yg alcohol dia di extract.

rasanya omputih tak leh masak kot kalo takda wine..


tv tak same dgn reality. ada org yg alergic dgn yeast properties of the wine so depa takleh minum wine. my frens ramai yg opt for soda drinks instead of wine.

anyway, niat tu penting. kalo nak jadi muslimah cook, then so be it. good luck in ur journey to the truth.

beginning stage
1. Ko tahan kena maki tak, siap ada 4 letters word pelbagai lagi
2.biasa tak kupas bawang satu berguni guni,kentang berguni guni dsb
3.start from bottom even though ade papers


frankly speaking, sorry to say inorder to be a good chef you have to start from commis walaupun ada paper dan it is not actually a world for every one, yang ko tengok hells kitchen tu actually only a part of it, banyak orang yang aku pernah lihat nak join culinary world nie sebab ingat glamour semata mata tapi akhirnya sekerat jalan jeee

just wonder what happen to chef sudirman

byk da sy dgr kes2 maki hamun cam ni.....pasal kupas bawang berguni2 pun dah dengar...rasanya ni ok kot..tp bab kena maki hamun tahap xtreme ni tak best ler..

hah? sejak bila ada fatwa kata wine halal ek? tak pernah dgr la plak..emm..i think kalo gitu boleh la subsitute wine tu ngan pure grape juice kan?..or Ribena?..em kena eksperimen ni
