Maruja is Mars Ravelo's immortal love story about two people whose love for each other transcended a century. Written by Mars Ravelo and illustrated by Rico Rival,it was a story that dealt with reincarnation, beginning with theill-fated love story of Maruja and Gabriel during the Spanish era andending with their reunion one hundred years later. It was originallypublished in Pilipino Komiks in 1966 and is considered as one of Ravelo's successful realist masterpieces, along with "Roberta", which were both translated into films. It's true, even popular singer-actress Karylle get starstruck. Karylle who is part of ABS-CBN's upcoming mini-series "Maruja" said that with all the stars she met from showbiz she was really mesmerized by the goddess beauty of actress Kristine Hermosa, which is also the lead star of the said afternoon series.
Karylle recounted that she kept her eyes on Hermosa the first time she saw the actress. She said Hermosa looks more younger now especially with her short hair.
"Natutuwa ako kasi noong una sobra akong nahihiya dahil tingin ako ng tingin kay Kristine kasi sobra siyang ganda lalo na ngayon kasi she does, straight, she looks younger nag-haircut siya ako minsan titig ako ng titig sa kanya baka isipin niya ano ba ito fans?," she said.
Karylle said that she told Hermosa how pretty she is and how she admires her skin complexion, she even admitted that she got starstruck.
"Sabi ko sa kanya sobra lang akong nai-starstruck, kasi ang puti niya at ang ganda ganda niya pala talaga tapos eventually na overcome ko na 'yong pagka-fans ko," Karylle said.
Daughter of Divine Diva Zsa Zsa, Karylle transfered to ABS-CBN as part of her career move. Right now, the singer is taping for "Maruja" and a new member of "ASAP '09.
