sama gak mcm IMHO ataupun In My Humble Opinion. malambangkan hanya pendapat ko sahaja. 2 cents. nilainya mungkin rendah bagi sesetengah orang (yang tidak mahu mendengar pendapat tu) dan nilainya mungkin tinggi bagi seseorang yg menerima pendapat tersebut.

it reflects the diversity of sociopragmatics.

Seseorg yg berasal dari Low context society would say - well okay it's just a view it may or might not be worth considering ...

if a person is from high context society - usually the Eastern population, then it may be viewed as an act of humility, as the person does not want to be perceive as being too showy.

or just to make a point  macam sorang forumner tu cakap to state the IRONY  macam perli gitu..like mmg pun pendapat dia bernas tapi dia saja jer nak make point yg org yg baca tu mmg tak akan peduli pun , but those who did / take the heed is indeed a good onelah .......

hmm interesting pragmatic lah language ni

aku agak bersetuju. tapi kan aku rasa, orang salu cakap its my 2 cents ni bila dia cakap samting harsh and the other party might dont want to hear. so nak stresskan yang itu cumalah pendapat beliau, beliau pun kata "its just my 2 cents"

sometimes it's "10 cents"

well it can be being humble. or it appears to be, so that people can build a 'defense wall' to his statement. we just don't need to see through that wall

just my 10 ringgit

Generally, what you say is definitely your own opinion. So why do you think people use the phrase, "In my humble opinion....", " Sembah patik harap diampun"," Pada pendapat patik pacal yang hina..."? It is just a way of addressing.................

well the pragmatic, you mean,  i.e one's  way of using language in expressing their thoughts....but then the semantics of it / the way of people interpreting those language is rather interesting..that's why another school of thoughts in linguistic is called the pragmatics - which is concerned about the  function of language and its effect.

Right.....sometimes one tends to read too much into it and arrive at all sorts of conclussion. OK if it's a good one. Shok sendirilah
However if it's unpleasant, tak pasal menyusahkan diri .

Time to get the meaning and it's use right.
