With Agent 220 Million, No Agent 110 Million
Kuala Lumpur, KLS: Malaysian Defence Minister Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that an order was issued in this March to procure Russian combat aircrafts’ spares and parts directly from Russian without going through any local or Russian agents.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov making a courtesy call to Malaysian Defence Minsiter today at KL. Sergei Ivanov is overseeing defence industry, aerospace industry, nanotechnology and transport.
Ahmad Zahid Hamidi told a press conference today that he had a discussion with Sergei Ivanov on various defence issues, among others, expressing satisfaction of the Royal Malaysian Air Force on the performance of Su-30MKM and finding a way to reduce Mig-29N’s maintenance cost.
He said Ivanov agreed that the future procurement of spares and parts shall not go through Malaysian or Russian agents, but acquire directly from OEM by ATSC.
“Therefore, maintenance cost can be reduced through this way.”
He said he mentioned before the annual maintenance cost of Mig-29Ns is RM 220 million during a parliamentary proceeding, but with the new step in place the maintenance cost can be reduced to 50%.
“It means that the ceiling maintenance budget RM 110 million will be allocated for Migs. The same measurement will be done on Su-30MKM, i.e buy spares and parts directly from OEM.”
He revealed that the order was issued by him in this March, and today discussion with Ivanov is a follow through of the order.
On the other hand, Defence Minister said Russia has also agreed to authorize ATSC as a main technical service provider of Maintenance, Repairing and Overhaul (MRO) for the Migs and Sukhois.
He added ATSC is also given the authority to service other Russian made combat aircrafts in this region.

masalahnya kenapa tuba sekarang walhal kalau 5-10 tahun dulu berapa banyak kita dah save, senang-senang boleh tambah satu lagi skuadron MRCA takpun ganti terus seluruh Nuri.:@ |

Bukan tu je....kapal amfib boleh dapat 3, SSK dapat 6, MRAD missile dapat 2 rejimen (bukan level bateri lagi dah tau....), Lekiu class boleh dapat lagi 4.... |
