Korea Utara menjatuhkan hukuman penjara seumur hidup terhadap kanak-kanak berusia dua tahun kerana ibu bapanya didapati memiliki Al-Kitab (bible), kitab suci penganut Kristian.
CBN melaporkan, di bawah pemerintahan Kim Jong Un, sesiapa yang memiliki Al-Kitab akan dikenakan hukuman mati manakala ahli keluarganya juga akan dipenjara seumur hidup.

Berdasarkan Kebebasan Beragama Antarabangsa, Jabatan Hal Ehwal Luar Amerika Syarikat (AS), hampir 50,000 ke 70,000 individu telah dijatuhi hukuman penjara hanya kerana mereka beragama Kristian.
Menurut sumber, seorang wanita dan cucunya dibunuh kerana memeluk Kristian sekitar 2021 manakala 151 wanita Kristian yang ditahan memberitahu bahawa mereka telah diseksa seperti menjadi buruh paksa, mangsa keganasan seksual dan sebagainya.
Difahamkan, tahanan juga tidak dibenarkan tidur dan digalakkan untuk membunuh diri.
