help, my credit card been stolen... can anyone tell me what should i do?

Hi,
My credit card (CC) was stolen by a very smart theif that i wasn't realised that my card can be missing from my wallet as i never take out from my wallet before, but this all is not important. i was realised that my card is missing when the bank is inform me that there have a transaction of RM2,387.00 been done and approve... after i saw that message, it was already too late.. so i made the report to bank immediately to block the card and made a police report and wrote a report of the stolen card to the bank on the next day..
The bank said due to my carelessness to lose my card, most probably i got to pay for the amount... but i got few question want to discuss first before i am admit my fault..
1) before the theif made the transaction of RM2,387.00, he is trying to make a transaction that amount of more than rm5,000, but the transaction is not going through, but why that time the bank is never caling me in this very danger situation? the bank answer me they will only call me when they try to swipe over the limit for 2-3 time. zzzzz
2) the total expense of my credit card since i am using it for more than 1 year is also not more than RM600 only, but suddenly got a transaction amount RM2,387.00, is already more than my spending for whole year, but why the bank is never call me also?? the bank answer me they will only call me when have a spending that more than RM5,000.00, but not for transaction that over RM2,000.00.. but what i want to say is although rm2,000.00 just a small amount to them, but is a huge amount for me that i need to work more than 2 month to get the amount.
3) after a day of that unauthorised transaction.. i have going back to the marchant that he spend the rm2,387.00 to.. and i request the credit card slip for them for me see, what can i see is, the signature is totally different from my signature, how come they will let the transaction go through so smoothly. but i cannot blame the cashier too, when they are busy, they wont going to check the signature so clearly.. but what for we need to sign our signature behind our card? its just will make the theif to try to follow the signature behind the card only.. the theif stil even using my information from my ic to purchase the item. but onli he don't have my correct mobile number and he just simply create a mobile number.. if that time, the cashier can request him to take out his IC to make the identity comfirmation, this all thing will be not happen.. but it was not... the transaction is going so smoothly..
4) the bank are going to investigated this cases but the shop cctv is so unfortunately is out of services, and there is don't have any prove that the person who spending the card is not me.. so they are stop their investigation process and they keep blaming that is my family member to use my card. if my family member using my card, what for do i make a report there..
is this all only i 1 person fault? i am going to bear this all expenses that is not spend by me??
is there any case that the cardholder not pay the outstanding amount?
i maybe got to sell my motor or sell my car to pay for it if i got to pay for all.. i have just apply this credit card because its need to use for booking the hotel online. and my credit card is only use for that transaction and for few petrol expense only.. i have try to cancel this card before, but the staff there keep persuade me to continue use that i will very hard to apply the credit card for future after new system implement.. its indirectly cause me for this cases.. i am just working for 1.5 year and i have been jobless for half year during that.. and my salary just around RM1,000 per month, how i going to pay for that??
anyone can help me to reduce my burden?? your help is much appreciated... |

Hmmmmmmm...it must somebody yg hijacked you punya wallet..just like Malek Noor case sometime ago...he didn't realize the card was missing until the Bank acknowledge him about the "over"spent of his credit for over than RM30K....actually if not mistaken dia punya case tu mmg somebody dah ambik dia punya kad and of course without his knowledge....kad banyak dalam wallet dan sudah tentu tak sedar satu akd hilang...
BTW....Bank sebenarnya ada hak untuk menafikan tuntutan anda berikutan duit tu hilang/digunakan belum cukup tempoh had utk mereka call dan clarify about the amountn spending....for Example...Ada Bank tetapkan polisi jika card holder swipe certain amount at one shot ( ie : RM5000 and above )...the transaction will be put on hold first...owner will be verified...kalau betul....than baru transaction lepas... |

Just asking...berapa LOC( line of credit ) kredit kad you tu???normally kalau LOC lebih dr RM10K..Bank akan tetapkan transaction RM5K ( contoh ) br Bank akan call utk verify..otherwise...transaction will be considered approved.....
Banki biasanya takkan atau jarang verify bila transaction pelik dr biasa...cthnya..kalau you belanja dlm RM100-500 setiap bulan dan tiba2 you belanja RM3K bulan tu ( at one shot plak )...do get shocked on this kind of Bank T&C on the credit card taw....Except...kalau you 1st time user...kad br lulus dan you terus swipe RM3K....
This all based on my experience laaaaaaaa.......lain poremer mungkeng boleh beri pendapat lain.. |

alah satu cara .....deal with the Bank Officer....write letters ( dqan e-mail ) to All Persatuan Pengguna....Bank Negara etc....pastikan anda cc ke Pihak2 tersebut dalam surat yg u address ke Bank Tersebut ....if possible...let the Bank Top Management tahu pasal mende ni....fight for your right...walaupun mungkeng harapan nak menang 50-50...but al teast you'd tried your evel best.. |

pasal mengapa ada orang hajek saya punya wallet sudah tak penting, kerana itu sudah berlaku, tapi, line of credit card saya cuma 3k, tapi mula mula sekali dia cuba untuk swipe for 5k, tapi masa itu bank pun tak call saya langsung, semua transaksi berjalan dengan lancar without my knowledge, saya pun tak tau kad saya telah digunakan begitu banyak until saya receive sms dari bank kata transaksi itu sudah berjaya, apa pasal bagitau saya semua ini, jika nak verify atau comfirm dengan saya, better call saya sebelum transaksi itu berlaku.. tapi, saya agak kecewa dengan service bank ini, kawan saya guna UOB bank punya CC pun akan call dia pada transaksi yang lebih kurang 1 ribu.. tapi ini transaksi 2 ribu lebih pun tak call saya.. sekarang kena tanggung rugi pula, bukan saja tak ada duit untuk raya sekarang, nak hutang duit pula.. kesian saya... |

Oooooooo..if that so...the Bank must be at fault laaa....LOC RM3K....transaction > than RM3K...but still Bank tak acknowledge you...something wrong somewhere...is this is the case...rsnya you boleh file complaint...do like what i have mentioned ...write letter and e-mail...contact pihak Bank...
Kalau you senyap...atau sekadar report...Bank might be thinking that you are not interested at all...dan you hanya bayar untuk kesalahan org lain..

saja ada tanya bank, tapi mereka response saya, mereka hanya akan call bila dia cuba untuk swipe 5k for more than 3 time.. itu logik ke? bank keep panggil saya tunggu dan tunggu, final decision will be make by their management.. tapi saya rasa pasti akan saya yang tanggung punya. bank itu adalah RHB bank. so beside RHB bank, boleh saya complaint kat pihak siapa yang lebih berkuasa daripada mereka? |

pls proceed komplen you kat Bank Negara , Persatuan Pengguna ISlam, CAP , Media ( Malay mail + Berita Harian )....
akan call jika buat transaksi RM5K more than 3 times...what a ridiculous policy maaaaaa.....
Must agree with you yg i pernah pakai UOB....pernah swipe RM1.5K....trabnsaction put on hold sbb mesin tunjuk mesej " Please Call CC" cam gitu...call CC Center....buat verification/clarification....approved..settled.. |

saya baru call rhb just now, mereka mau saya tunggu untuk masa 2-3 bulan bagi mereka siasat, tapi statement sudah kirim datang yang tunjuk hutang rm2,489.00 outstanding. saya tanya kena bayar ke, mereka kata, jika tak setuju, tak perlu bayar dulu, tapi interest akan charge jika tak bayar.. if saya tak bayar dalam 2-3 bulan ini, nanti interest charge up will be very kasar.. tapi mereka bagitau, jika takut interest, then u bayar dulu lo.. apa maksud dia tu.. juz boleh cakap, dia tak boleh buat apa apa saja selain dari report kepada pihak perkenaan... dalam 2-3 bulan ini, mana boleh saya tidur lega? mungkin minggu depan saya akan buat lawatan ke bank negara untuk tanya tentang case ini... memang tak lega nak tunggu keputusan mereka... |

utk lebih selamat....better bayar minimum payment dulu...bank tu bgtahu pun takder black & white...if anythi9ng happen in the future....and you tak bayar dlm tempoh 3 bulan...Bank may take action ie: blacklist you or etc...seriously....conversation through is nothing ...no black & white...you akan terperangkap nanti.....utk lebih selamat....you kene ambik nama CSO Bank tersebut....date & time you call...if possible and to some extent...ambik jugak Staff no dia...put it in writing ...mention nama CSO tu.... |

thanks, itu semua pun sudah tak penting, kerana saya sudah call banyak kali, semua staff pun cakap macam tu.. next week saya akan make a visit to rhb bank dulu, then jumpa the manager there tengok macam mana dia nak settle ini, jika tak puas, akan buat 1 lagi lawatan ke bank negara... saya tengok orang lain boleh appeal success dan hanya bayar rm250 untuk itu rugi saja, harap saja pun tak akan tanggung rugi banyak la.. |

since i sudah kena, so saya pun nak nasihatkan semua, benda yang penting, kena check selalu kalau ada mimikirkan tentang dia... jangan macam saya, my CC suddenly hilang pun tak perasan. sampai orang sudah habis guna baru mengesan it.. need to aware it always, it might change the different... jangan harap terlalu banyak drp pihak bank, mereka tak akan tanggung segala kerugian yang dialami kamu punya, kami sendiri perlu berwaspada selalu... |

in addition to that...those who have more than 3 CC.....jgn bawak semua cc....tinggalkan dirumah...hanya bawak 1 atau 2 kad sajer...just in case if any unforeseen circumstances ( Like TT case ) ....imagine kalau anda bawak 5 cc dalam wallet...it will be such a waste for you to contact all Banks utk inform yg kad u hilang....by that time...kad yg ilang tu mungkeng telah digunakan.... |
