No promises on no future hikes, says KPDNKK ministerDomestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Hasan Malek says his ministry will be observing any ripple effect that may lead to price hikes 24 hours a day and if anyone is guilty of increasing prices, strict action will be taken against them. — TRP file pic
KUALA LUMPUR, OCT 2, 2014: Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK) Minister Datuk Seri Hasan Malek said the move to reduce fuel subsidies was not meant to burden the people. “It was done to strengthen our financial reserves,” he said at a press conference at the Malaysia’s Intellectual Property awards held in Bank Rakyat Twin Towers here today. Hasan noted that they needed the support of businessmen and the people.
“Be patient and wait for the 2015 Budget to be announced. “There will be steps in the budget to lessen the people’s burden,” Hasan said, adding that the ministry will also be monitoring a ripple effect that might lead to price hikes. “We will be observing this 24 hours a day and if anyone is guilty of increasing prices we will take strict action against them. Hasan called the hike a “minimal increase” and explained there was no proper timing for a hike. “If we raised it after Hari Raya Haji it would be close to Deepavali and after that would be close to Christmas. We will anger one community which ever we choose.” He disagreed that the hike was an indication that the government did not manage the nation’s funds well. Hasan however did not elaborate further on this, and had also declined to comment if the goods and services tax (GST) would be imposed on fuel. When asked if there will be another hike next year, he said: “I can’t promise there won’t be one”. Hasan’s ministry announced yesterday that the subsidy for RON95 petrol and diesel would be reduced by 20 sen a litre effective midnight. The selling price for RON95 is now at RM2.30 a litre while diesel is at RM2.20 a litre.

kalo budget ...
cuba ko relatekan post aku yg panjang lebar tu dgn defisit ni.....lagi maju sesuatu negara lagi lg banyak hutangnya....cer kita tengok korea........kebanyakan negara maju budget deficit.....cuma bila budget deficit tu diaorg dicounter dgn GDP perkapita yg tinggi, jadi cakap mudahnya pendapatan rakyat dah tinggi dan dah jadi prosperous country...so, kalu kita tgk jepon yg maju tu budget deficit dan 7% lebih dari GDP.......jadi kesimpulan aku, kerajaan cuba sedaya upaya untuk dapatkan balance budget (bajet berimbang) dgn menambahkan pendapatn negara (GST) as well as mengurangkan perbelanjaan negara (subsidi) semata-mata2 nak mengejar GDP yg tinggi untuk membolehkan GDP perkapita kita pon naik jadi mcm kawan2 kita di korea, SG atau jepon, jadi "kesensaraan" kita semua ni adalah bersifat sementara sebelum kita mencapai high income nation by 2020, so when the GDP percapita increse the rakyat burden will subside (dengan harapan) ....cuma persoalan yg aku nak timbulkan, adakah dgn kenaikan GDP tu nanti berkadar terus tak dgn GDP per kapita???? jgn jadi another way around mcm indon.....itu saja dari aku yg bukan ahlul ekonomi ni.
ni budget deficit negara2 maju dari malaysia, cuma kita tgok trend bg negara kita ni menunjukkan pengurangan deficit fiscal dalam 3-4 tahun kebelakangan ini......saudara seberang tambak kita quite good dah boleh suplus dalam 2-3 tahun ni....

bersyukur dan positiflah
KUALA LUMPUR: Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Hasan Malek today reiterated that the RM0.20 fuel hike was meant to strenghten the country’s economy and was not meant to burden the rakyat.
Hasan said Malaysians should trust the direction that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had set to lead the country towards becoming a developed nation.
"After conducting research, this is the right timing to reduce the fuel subsidy. The rakyat should stay positive on Budget 2015 which will be tabled by Najib next week.
"Besides the higher payout of the 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M), there will be other incentives to help Malaysians cope with the cost of living," he told a press conference after opening Majlis Aungerah Harta Intelek Negara 2014 here.
He also promised that the impact of the fuel hike would be minimal.
