1st of all I'm Sarawakian living in Sarawak.
Dad's Chinese, Mum's Native Bumiputra
My Mandarin is very very very limited and obviously I do not have Bumiputra status.
Then I see job ads going on like...
"Bumiputras are encouraged to apply"
"Untuk Bumiputra sahaja."
"Requirement: Fluent in Mandarin"
"Ability to communicate in Mandarin is an advantage."
Where would all that leave me?? So basically I suck!!
Hopefully no one misundertand this post as racist la. |

lihat iklan-iklan yang mana calon dikehendaki fasih berbahasa mandarin walhal job scope ialah logistics, administration, human resources, accounts, audit, engineering, etc. selain dari sales & marketing, sejak bila semua bidang ni perlu mewajibkan mandarin?
especially macam logistics (deal dengan jpj), administration (deal dengan polis, state govt agencies,..), human resource (deal dengan pejabat buruh), accounts (deal dengan banks, big 4s, bursa malaysia, suruhanjaya-suruhanjaya,..), engineering (deal dengan suruhanjaya tenaga, dosh, doe,..), purchasing (deal dengan kastam, MOF, overseas supplier,..), legal & secretarial services (legal documents kat malaysia ni dalam mandarin ke?), etc etc etc.. semua tu perlukan english/bm atau mandarin? percayakah bahawa kesemua ini langsung tidak gunakan english/bm?
kaum melayu supposedly meminggirkan kaum cina. well, adakah kaum cina tak supposedly meminggirkan kaum melayu?
inilah realiti. kita semua ada salah masing-masing. |

aku kurang suke bile org kata,
"tak acila mcm nih, nak yg cina je"
"company ni hire bumiputra sahaja"
"kitaorg tak suke kalo staff kitaorg tak pegi semayang jumaat" paham2 jelah
sume ni aku penah dgr dgn telinga aku sendirik.
kenapa kita nak menyibuk hal org lain? dah tau dia nak mandarin, pegila cari keje lain. toksah nak complain. bumi Allah ni luas.
if you really want to complaint is when the fact is u have fulfilled all criterias needed and still got rejected with no valid reason.
aku ada kawan keje kat company cina and she's the ONLY malay. she doesnt speak Mandarin much but she is the boss pet lah.
apalagi, pegi belaja Mandarin before nak complaint!
kuman seberang sungai nampak, gajah depan mata buat tatau je.
before tuding jari kat org lain, tanya diri sendirik dulu kemampuan kite. |

jgn mcm nie..tak baik tau:no: bukan semua org cina yg tak bagus..jgn menuduh secara global..I did have some good experience with them..ade yg respect kita..that's why we have to respect them too..jgn menuduh semua nya buruk..u hv to be specific oke |

I don't think that this is a sensitive issue. I'm currently also working for a chinese company yang memang cine lah. but, they thread us (malay or indian) very good, naik gaji, bonus...etc semue bagus. I also ade tanye lah at the Human Resource personnel, kenape ade certain company that they only want certain race, macam Petronas (99% Bumiputra), kalau kite tengok kat paper pun, banyak bende khas untuk Bumiputa sahaje, and yet, ade jugak syarikat yang nak ambek orang cine sahaje, i asked her why? She told me that kat Malaysia ni, the EEO(Equal Employement Opportunity) memang tak ade, NOT like America and United Kingdom. For chinese company yang nak ambek orang cine sahaje, because they want to deal with China Market. Skarang ni kan China is the Ecomonic Giant, so, they need more poeple that can speak mandarin. I have alot of malay and indian friends that can speak fluent mandarin and they mananged to get job in chinese company. so, it still depends on your luck. You really have to stand out! Kerje dengan orang cine memang penat, but we can learn alot from them, sebab orang cine ni, tak kedekut ilmu, memang nak ajar je kat kite. |

aku pernah bekerja dengan bank yang dikontrol oleh kaum cina.
sekarang ni bekerja dengan satu kompeni yang dikontrol oleh kaum cina. walaupun aku melayu, aku direct report ke BOD dan on first name basis dengan ED, GCEO dan senior management team yang kesemuanya dari kaum cina. kompeni pulak, scopenya asia, bukan terhad ke domestik market. ada banyak operations di cina, indonesia dan malaysia. aku can perform jobs well, sebab tu i am where i am now dengan securenya.
so, segala points aku bukan bersifat racial. merely facts.
ke china? ehehehehe.. dah terlambat la kalau baru nak penetrate ke sana sekarang.
lagipun apa kaitannya ambik pekerja hr, logistics, admin, accounts, engineering, secretarial, legal, purchasing, etc. dengan china? lain lah kalau ambik pekerja yang akan based di sana (berapa ramai saja, since it is not practical dan cost-effective).
perlukah mandarin bila deal dengan jpj, dosh, doe, labour office, mahkamah, suruhanjaya-suruhanjaya, vendors, peguam, dokumen rasmi, kastam, etc.
as i said, documentations (legal, accounting, official, transactional, processing, etc.) kat malaysia ni in bm/bi ke atau mandarin?
aku agree bab sales & marketing masih perlukan personnel dari kaum cina. ini kerana business is concluded (mostly) during makan/minum sessions. this is one area yang mana knowledge in mandarin (dan paling penting, local dialects) is a good point.
basically, kaum cina amalkan polisi diskriminasi. dan kaum melayu pun sama bersalah juga. |
