that usually means your main power strip doesn't have enough power to support second power strip connected to it (your surge protector, with all devices connected to it). unless you're using commercial type power strip with each jack is about 3 inches apart, home user power strip should always be connected directly to the wall jack. it may work initially, but eventually will wear off (it may already start to wear off).
home user power strip is design to support whatever # of jack it has. if you included second power strip by daisy chaining it to the first one, the first power strip will have to support extra devices (whatever you have connected to second power strip), but it doesn't have enough power to do it (and very dangerous too).

apa yang berlaku, kemungkinan, you punya power strip yang pertama (yang you cucuk cpu, modem, etc) tu mungkin tak cukup power untuk support apa-apa equipment tu, plus equipment yang you cucuk kat your surge protector (yang you sambung dari power strip yang pertama).
setiap power strip atau power bar dicipta untuk support bilangan equipment berdasarkan berapa banyak ia ada jack. kalau ada 5, dia boleh support 5 equipment saje. kalau you sambung extra power strip kat your main power strip, then your first power strip kena support extra equipment yang terdapat kat your second power strip tu, in this case your surge protector. so, kalau surge protector tu ada 3 jack, bermakna your main power strip now kena support 5 + 3 = 8 equipment, walau pun ia dicipta untuk support 5 saje. disebabkan ia kena support extra 3, ia kena cuba tarik eletrik lebih sikit. mula-mula mungkin okay. lama-lama, sakit juga... dah boleh membuatkan ia cepat rosak (dan bahaya juga).

Ada ke eh extension bar yang provide more than 5 points? ...
ada, tapi biasanya business yang pakai sebab mahal - tak tau kat malaysia berapa harganya. oobi pakai juga. it's about 5.5 kaki panjang and ada 11 inputs (about 4 inches apart from each other). very powerful sebab you boleh connect 2-3 power strip yang macam you pakai tu. yang oobi guna ni biasanya dipakai kat data center - untuk connect servers routers, big UPS, etc. - memang powerful betul. mine, i have about 2 power strips connected to it (8 extra devices - all full) plus i think about 5-7 extra devices on main power strip (tersorok belakang meja).
this is the one that i use: Plug-In Outlet Center Units

cadangan tu memang betul dan bagus sebab you need to protect your cpu. but, seelok-eloknya you connect the surge protector to terus ke wall outlet, instead of tarik elektrik dari another power strip.
