if you're trying to convert a song, it's not possible. you can but you won't get the result you're expected. you need to use professional equipments. no software will be able to do that. however, if you just want to convert a sound of single instrument, such piano, guitar, etc., yes, you can do it. you can try AmazingMIDI

okay, sebelum oobi explain, you need to understand one thing. this software can't convert your mp3 directly to midi. you need to convert mp3 to wav first.it's actually very easy to use the software.
1. once you launch the software, click on tone file and select the tone you want. the provided tones are limited. so, if you have your own, you can add them and use it. your output midi file will be based on this tone.
2. click on input file and select your wav file you want to convert to midi. the output file will automatically be assigned in the same folder as your input file.
3. cllick on the song icon, the first icon from the left.
4. when transcribe window comes up, adjust the analysis as you like, or you can use default settings. at the bottom, you'll see "program number". you can change this accordingly. if you want it output to sound like electric guitar, select electric guitar. but, keep in mind, the tone will be based on #1 above.
5. click "start" to start the conversion.
you can convert a song too, but since in a song, there are too many different tones, this software will pick them all (as long as it able to recognize). therefore, the output sound will not be what you're expected. that's why it's almost impossible to convert a song to midi (because there are too many sounds). midi consist of one tone. so, if you have a song that consist of a sound of a guitar only, or a piano only, you'll get better result.
oobi try convert lagu bon jovi, it's my life, and it sounds terrible.

So maksudnya better guna output mp3 lagu instrumental/minus one lah ya?
http ...
biasa jer...
yes, nak convert tu midi, elok ambil instrumental song, macam kenny g punye lagu (biasanya cuma ada bunyi flute or soprano saxophone aje). tak pun bunyi gitar joe satriani. tapi, kalau ada more than one instrument, memang tak berapa sedap. satu lagi, sebab tone yang ada sekali dengan software ni tak banyak, bunyi pun tak best sangat. kalau ada tone sendiri, elok ada. macam bunyi sax, keluar bunyi ikut bunyi piano, tak sedap. but, it's free.

macam midi, almost impossible, Ax. susah nak separate frequencies for voice and instruments. kena guna professional equipments. kalau tak, macam ada forumer suggested sebelum ni, run through music editing software, re-record the song and set whatever frequency you don't want to zero. that's all yang oobi tau. mungkin ada forumer yang lebih tau dan boleh beri better suggestion kat sini.
