Clearly Wall-E akan menang untuk Best Animated Feature coz Wall-E gak disebut antara favourite untuk Best Original Screenplay, which is something yang susah untuk filem2 animasi untuk dicalonkan.. |

Best Actress - Early runners and riders
Angelina Jolie (Changeling)
Previous winner in 2000 Angelina was tipped by many last year to be nominated for A Mighty Heart. That didn't materialise but another good performance here may put her back on the radar.
Kate Winslet (Revolutionary Road)
Nominated for five Oscars and still awaiting a win; surely this is her time. Back with Leonardo DiCaprio and directed by husband Sam Mendes the family drama Revolutionary Road may be Kate's chance.
Meryl Streep (Doubt)
Great cast that could be outdone by Streep's talent. Hasn't won since 1982 but has been nominated ten times since. She is an awesome actress who is certain to get another Oscar and this part could be the one.
Anne Hathaway (Rachel Getting Married)
Anne hasn't been on the Academy's nomination list but a string of good performances gives her a chance with this Jonathon Demme directed film. A possible surprise nomination.
Julianne Moore (Blindness)
Nominated for four Oscars and another actress yet to win one. She is in another two films due for release this year but Blindness looks to be the main one so far. Likely to get a nomination and wouldn't look out of place if she won |

Best Actress - Early runners and riders
Nicole Kidman (Australia)
Winner back in 2003 for The Hours but has failed to get the right roles in the right films since. This is another potentially good film and role but whether it is an actors movie or just a visual beauty we will have to see.
Kiera Knightley (The Duchess)
Nominated in 2005 for Pride and Prejudice Kiera takes on a similar role to fellow competitior Emily Blunt. I can only see one of these two getting a nomination but Kiera is slowly becoming an established actress and may just sneak in again.
Emily Blunt (The Young Victoria)
No nominations yet for the young actress but this may give her the best acting role so far. If she can pull it off she has a chance of a nomination.
Sally Hawkins (Happy Go Lucky)
Sally is getting a lot of praise for her work on the Mike Leigh directed Happy Go Lucky. No nominations so far though and she may have to wait a little longer to break into this tough category.
Laura Linney (The Other Man)
Still awaiting her first Oscar after three previous nominations. Very respected in the actor's circles and if the film works Laura should be looking at her fourth nomination and a possible win. |
