MAKNA (& other charity bodies in M'sia eg Unicef, WWF, NKF, Budimas) has many ways of conducting their fund raising activities. One of them is through the Direct Debit Donor Programme (DDDP), which allows the public to contribute financially on an on-going basis. There are 2 two modes of contribution:
(1) Autodebit through credit card - any locally issued Visa/Mastercard/Amex
(2) Autodebit through savings account - Maybank/RHB (sole account only)
Note: For this option, there will be a charge of RM1 by the bank for evert successful transaction.
Deduction can be done on:
(1) A monthly basis - a choice of RM38 or RM58 per month
(2) A six-monthly basis - a choice of RM228 or RM348 per month
Note: (1) There is also a one-time option, where you can donate by credit card/cheque/postal order (any amount that you wish)
(2) Cash donation is not accepted through this programme
MAKNA has appointed a third party to assist them in the marketing and administration needed to facilitate this programme. The 3 methods of fund raising for DDDP are:
(1) Street pitching - fundraisers will be assigned to certain territories where they will approach/pitch passerbys
(1) Event - set up booth at shopping complexes/hyper markets/lrt stations/etc
(2) Business to business (B2B)/residential - fund raisers will go from office to office/house to house (this is done with the approval from the management/authorities concerned)
If you are approached by any of these fund raisers, you can ask them to produce their ID Badge (should be worn/displayed at all time) and authorisation letter from MAKNA. There is also a contact number that you can call for identification of the fund raiser. Upon signing up, you will be given your copy of the pledge form (yellow copy), with all the contact details at the back of the form.
By signing up as a donor, you are eligible for a tax exemption (of the total donation amount). You will receive the tax exempt receipt from MAKNA on a yearly basis. MAKNA will also send you their newsletter every quarterly.
Hope the above clarifies. |

kenapa pulak derma tu perlu ditetapkan. sebabnya derma adalah sesuatu yang kita beri kepada pihak lain dengan seikhlas hati. tak kisah le RM1 sekali pun. kalau ditetapkan, bukan derma dah namanya. |

Klu fund raiser tu xde ID badge, then don't entertain him unless he can provide u with his identification. It is an offend on their part if they don't hv their ID badges with them all the time while they are out in the field. |

Konsep on-going donation or sumbangan setiap bulan ni is because they need a sustainable source of income to allow them to plan for the future. MAKNA requires RM15 million annually to run its existing programmes. It means sumbangan setiap bulan akan dapat membantu MAKNA menyalurkan dana utk menampung kos2 pesakit kanser dlm jangka masa yg panjang. |
