For example, why can't people drop this  master & slave mentality? Are people recreating the class culture after many years of independence? Why can't people just say, "Ladies and gentleman" instead of going through a long list of categories...YB, YAB, Dato-Datin etc, etc..I have even lost track which comes first. Perhaps, the lowest comes last??

ermmm....kekadang tunggu 2-3 min nak sebut nama2 tan tin tun dlm sesatu majlis

ada 2 senario yg terfikir:

host nak bagitau semua org dlm majlis yg dia ada kenalan hebat2...
host risau kalo tan tin tun tak rasa acknowledgement dr pihak penaja...

atau it's just a plain protocol...esp when dealing wt gomen officer

sebab kita ada sistem beraja..kebanyakan semua title tun,datuk seri,datuk dll tu diberi oleh sultan-sultan..benda tu bila diucap pada majlis-majlis formal seperti menunjukkan penghormatan pemberian drp sultan-sultan (pembesar dan ketua negara)...itu seperti salah satu keistimewaan yang paling utama yg negara kita ada sebab menggunakan sistem beraja yg mana sistem beraja kita special sebab sistem beraja kesultanan melayu...kalu tak ucap,nampak seperti takde keistimewaan..sama mcm bila bertemu raja,kita akan sebut daulat tuanku...di luar negara,dalam beberapa majlis yg formal..ada juga kes-kes macam ni..kena sebut satu-satu title..tapi kebanyakkannya terus saja ladies and gentleman..lebih mudah dan padat...

perhaps this mentality comes from us being too polite and too submissive.
but that is our culture. malaysia didnt have the 60s and 70s like the western world had so our traditions are still intact.

i am not too sure if tempat lain pun same. it would have to if one country has the same system as ours.

britain retains its monarchy because it attracts a lot of foreign money into the country. other monarchy? i'm not too sure...
