Masalah Kesihatan Mental Penduduk 16 Tahun Ke Atas Di Malaysia Makin Melarat

Kuala Lumpur: Kementerian Kesihatan (KKM) merekodkan peningkatan hampir tiga kali ganda dalam kes kesihatan mental dalam kalangan penduduk berusia 16 tahun ke atas.


Statistik membimbangkan itu dimaklumkan Menteri Kesihatan, Dr Zaliha Mustafa, ketika memaklumkan cabaran dalam sektor kesihatan negara, yang diperincikan dalam Kertas Putih Kesihatan.


Katanya, peningkatan daripada 11 peratus pada 1996 kepada 29 peratus pada 2015 itu, menunjukkan masalah kesihatan mental bagi penduduk berusia 16 tahun ke atas semakin melarat.

"Selain itu, 12 peratus kanak-kanak berusia lima hingga 15 tahun didapati mengalami masalah kesihatan mental pada 2015.


"Besar kemungkinan, semasa pandemik Covid-19 masalah kesihatan mental lebih tinggi," katanya ketika membentangkan usul Kertas Putih Kesihatan di Dewan Rakyat di sini, hari ini.


Mengulas lanjut, Dr Zaliha memaklumkan insiden kanser di Malaysia juga menjadi antara cabaran utama kepada sektor kesihatan negara, berdasarkan data Registri Kanser Kebangsaan yang merekodkan 115,000 kes kanser baharu antara 2012 hingga 2016.


Pada masa sama, katanya, Malaysia turut merekodkan peningkatan penyakit berjangkit seperti tuberkulosis dan HIV/AIDS, selain kemunculan semula penyakit cegahan vaksin (VPD) seperti polio, demam campak, difteria dan pertusis.


"Beban penyakit kronik juga semakin banyak. Tinjauan Kebangsaan Kesihatan dan Morbiditi dari 2011 hingga 2019 menunjukkan peningkatan prevalen penyakit tidak berjangkit seperti kencing manis, darah tinggi dan kolesterol tinggi, yang turut menjadi penyumbang utama kepada beban kesihatan dalam negara.


"enyakit ini juga kerap membawa kepada penyakit kardiovaskular dan kegagalan buah pinggang serta angin ahmar kalau tidak dikesan awal dan dirawat dengan baik," katanya.


Dr Zaliha berkata, perubahan iklim dan ekologi persekitaran yang menyebabkan kekerapan bencana banjir, jerebu dan gelombang haba turut memberi kesan pada kesihatan rakyat dan menjadi cabaran yang perlu ditangani dalam Kertas Putih Kesihatan.


Katanya, bencana seperti banjir membawa risiko penyakit bawaan air dan vektor, kecederaan serta kehilangan nyawa, manakala jerebu menyebabkan masalah pernafasan serta meningkatkan risiko penyakit jantung dan angin ahmar.
