in my opinion, usc and oklahoma are the two best teams right now; they are playing the best football. but, we won't see them in the title game. it will probably be ohio state vs lsu.

what an end to a ridiculous season in college football and put BSC into chaos yet again - playoff anybody? oklahoma and usc are two hottest team right now but popular votes might favor LSU over those two. KU and Georgia both lost in conference title, so possibly out of reaching national title game. The other possible team for final might be VTech. Hawaii stays as the only unbeaten team in the season full of upsets. Damn, I thought they gonna lose last night but Heismann trophy worth performance by Colt Brennan and Hawaii delivers 28 unanswered points to turn the game 180 degrees.

Between Colt Brennan, Tim Tebow, and Darren McFadden, who should wins Heissman? I can think of anybody else, Dennis Dixon is hurt, Chase Daniels and Patrick White are there other two contended

For me, I think it's a tough call between Brenna and McFadden.

to me, qb got too much attention and sometimes way overrated. besides tim tebow, i'm not sure any of those quarterbacks are first round material to play in the nfl. but, heisman, can't say too much because the best player not usually get selected.

in my opinion, the winner this year should be either glenn dorsey of the lsu or darren mcfadden of arkansas. overall, these two are the best college players this year. dorsey is the catalyst of that lsu defense. without him, and his spirit, lsu will not be able to stay in the game, especially against auburn. mcfadden, he's just very talented and the numbers speak for itself.

as far as i can remember, charles woodson was the last defensive player to win heisman (1997) in the last 6 decade, and he's playing an elite position, cornerback. so, dorsey's chances of winning heisman is very remote (i don't even think he's a candidate at all).

so, lsu tigers will play ohio state buckeyes in bcs national championship game. this is going to be a great game, if it lives up to expectation - two dominant defenses and two productive offenses.

buckeyes need to tighten up their run defense after getting run over by illinois or lsu will do the same to them. lsu, they need to protect their qb better or matt flynn will be running for his life trying to avoid buckeyes front seven.

in other bowl games; usc trojans will play illinois fighting illini in rose bowl, hawaii warriors will face georgia bulldogs in sugar bowl, virginia tech hokies will play kansas jayhawks in orange bowl, while oklahoma sooners will go up against west virginia in fiesta bowl. the odd team out is missouri tigers, even though they beat and rank higher than kansas (since only two team can represent a conference in bcs bowl games).

heh i was wondering where the heck is mizzou, thanks for clear things up. another flaw in current BCS bowl system i supposed. i thought this crazy season shows us that non-big name football programs or schools not known for football program like kansas and missouri are improving and threatening other traditional big football program. i think it's time to go for playoff. sorry for always bringing up the same issue here hehe.

yeah, i really hope they will have playoff and at the same time keep those bowl games. A-1 is the only division that doesn't use playoff to determine its champion.

one other thing; i'm a bit disappointed that rose bowl chose illinois to face usc instead of hawaii - they want to keep pac-10/big-10 rivalry alive whenever possible. if they chose hawaii, we get to see two pro style offenses facing each other - june jones's run and shoot (i loved it when warren moon ran this offense with houston oilers and jeff george for atlanta falcons), and pete caroll's hybrid west coast offense. and i really want to see how colt brennan leads warriors high power offense playing against usc pro style defense.

hey oobi i was thinking the same. i thought florida or mizzou is another good team to play against usc based on ranking. that crazy old man is lame. he uses tradition as an excuse to justify usc-illinois match-up. i know illinis beat buckeyes  this season but i doubt that they could be on par againts a good team like usc. rose bowl is always an interesting bowl game to watch. hopefully it's still the same this season.

nobody talks about Tim Tebow winning Heismann trophy?

yes, either florida or missouri is excellent choice too, to play against usc in rose bowl. i know, anytime pac-10 team play against big-10 team, it will draw big crowd. but, in this case, i'm not so sure. i'm confident that if they chose florida, they will add 20% more.

heisman? i don't really watch it. may be once or twice so far. reason? the winner is usually not the best college player (used to be), but rather player with the best stats. tebow deserved the trophy but i want to see him improve next season (no matter if he has better supporting casts or not). my favorite heisman winners so far: earl campbell, marcus allen and barry sanders.

Do you remember when there was a rumor about Les Miles leaving LSU for Michigan job before the team faced Arkansas and they lost. Then, before LSU game againts Tenn in SEC championship, he appeared in press conference angrily issued a statement in front of reporters that he is more than happy to stay at LSU. It was funny to see his reaction that day. It's like he was blaming the rumors for distracting his team from focusing on playing football. And they won SEC title. Then, he issued another statement saying he's ready to sign a new contract. Itis like he's doing whatever he can to motivate his players to focus on national title game and helping him winning the title.

- violations force 5 spartans out of bowl -

Michigan State Benches 5 players

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Defensive standouts Jonal Saint-Dic and SirDarean Adams are among five Michigan State players who will sit out the Champs Sports Bowl on Friday against No. 14 Boston College because of academic or other violations.

The Spartans said Monday that Saint-Dic, a senior defensive end, and three other players are academically ineligible for the bowl game. Adams, a senior linebacker, violated unspecified team rules.

The other ineligible players are wide receiver and return specialist Terry Love, wide receiver/cornerback T.J. Williams and offensive guard Abre Leggins.

"We're obviously disappointed for these young men and for their teammates," coach Mark Dantonio said in a release from the bowl site. "We will miss them and their contributions on and off the field here at the Champs Sports Bowl."

Saint-Dic told the Lansing (Mich.) State Journal that he failed a math class, his final requirement to graduate with a degree in sociology.

"I only took two classes this semester, a sociology class for three credits and a math class for five credits," Saint-Dic said by phone from his hometown of Elizabeth, N.J. "I need six (passing) credits to play in the bowl game, so if I would have taken more classes I would have been fine. But I came up two points short in the math class."

"I studied and studied, but I came up short. It's a shocker. This is something I'm going to learn from, I'm not going to let it put me down. I'm praying for my teammates and I'm going to get my degree, and then I'm going for my master's degree."

Dantonio said he makes no excuses for any of the players being ineligible.

"We have stressed the importance of finishing things all season, both in the classroom and on the playing field," the coach said. "Michigan State provides its student-athletes with a tremendous amount of resources and tools for academic success.

"Each individual must be committed to putting forth the time and effort in the classroom, resulting in a reasonable amount of success."

Adams was a key player in the game that made Michigan State (7-5) bowl eligible. He made two interceptions in the Spartans' 48-31 victory over Purdue on Nov. 10.

Dantonio would not discuss the violation, but said Adams' situation "provides a learning opportunity for all of us. We continually stress to our student-athletes the importance of making good decisions, both on and off the field. It is unfortunate that we all must suffer the consequences.

"This provides playing opportunities for others. We've been pleased with the way our team has responded to challenges throughout this season, and we will again need to measure up."
