Unai Emery Will Be Valencia Coach Next Season - Fernando Gomez
The vice-president has stated that the coach will still be at Valencia...
Valencia vice-president, Fernando Gomez, has stated that Unai Emery will be the coach next season, despite the worsening situation at the club.
Los Che have had plenty of off the pitch issues to contend with lately and the form on the pitch seems to have suffered, with the team slipping down into eighth in the table.
Defeat to lowly Numancia this weekend was yet another hammer blow to them and they appear to be in free-fall at the moment.
Gomez told Marca that Emery will be "leading Valencia next season" though and called for the fans to support the side.
"Even though they have their reasons, I hope they keep their negative feelings inside and get behind the team against Recreativo Huelva," he mused.
The vice-president also said that the message about Emery was not a vote of confidence, rather a show of solidarity from up high.
"This is not clarification, but a message that is loud and clear. Unai Emery is partly responsible, as is everyone at the club, but I look at the situation and Unai is working and trying to be logical. We trust in the way he is going," he explained.
Gomez also admitted that were he a player he would "think if I am behaving as I should in this situation" and asked for them to show "a sincere amount of responsibility by focusing on doing everything that is possible, and showing what they are worth."
