Sky Sports sources understand that Liverpool have parted company with assistant manager Sammy Lee.
The reasons for the Anfield legend's departure are unclear and the club have yet to comment on the reports , but the appointment of Steve Clarke last season may have minimalised his role.
Lee, who had been working as part of Kenny Dalglish's staff, has already been linked with a move to West Ham, where he would be reunited with former Bolton colleague Sam Allardyce.
The ex-Liverpool player had been a part of the coaching staff since being appointed as reserve team coach by Graeme Souness in 1993.
He was promoted to a first-team role under Roy Evans and kept his position when Gerard Houllier became the sole manager.
Lee left Liverpool in 2004, when he took up a full-time position with England before becoming Allardyce's assistant at Bolton.
The now-52-year-old succeeded Allardyce as manager at Bolton, but was sacked after winning just one match in 11 and returned to Anfield in 2008 as a deputy to Rafa Benitez. |

Liverpool FC confirmed today that Assistant Manager Sammy Lee has left the Club by mutual consent.
Team Manager Kenny Dalglish said: "We'd like to place on record our thanks for all of Sammy's hard work over the years and the contribution he has made to Liverpool. He has always been a credit to the Football Club and a credit to himself. Everyone at Liverpool FC wishes him all the best in his future career."
Sammy Lee said: "I returned to the Club in 2008 and I'm proud of the contribution I've been able to make since then. I want to wish Kenny, the players and the supporters all the best going forward."
The Club will continue to analyse the requirements of their backroom team and will make further announcements in due course. |

Roma keeper Doni has had a major change of heart and reached an agreement to join Liverpool, according to reports in Italy.
Italian newspaper Il Messagero claims the Brazilian keeper has already agreed terms and is hoping to finalise a move in the next few days.
The two clubs are now agreeing a fee for the experienced keeper with Roma looking for at least £1.5m for the 31-year-old.
The move looked in doubt earlier in the week after Doni turned down the club's first offer saying his salary would have been cut by 60 per cent, but the two parties appear to have reached a compromise.
The arrival of Doni will spark even more speculation surrounding the long-term future of Pepe Reina who has been linked with a move away from Liverpool.
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is determined to build a squad that is good enough to challenge for major silverware next season. |

Liverpool face a battle with Sochaux and Lille for striker Nolan Roux.
talkSPORT recently revealed Liverpool were keen on the French forward, with Kenny Dalglish committed to overhauling his squad this summer.
Stade Brest have received enquiries for Roux and the club are planning to cash in on the £7million-rated star - with Liverpool the most keen.
But talkSPORT understands French sides Sochaux and Lille are also eager to speak to Brest about the possibility of signing the 23-year-old.
Lille are losing striker Gervinho to Arsenal and the club are already planning for his departure by scouring the market for a replacement.
It all means Dalglish will have to move quickly to sign his target and although Brest have not received an official bid yet, interest from elsewhere may force him into action. |
