Strategi emas Kim Hock
Oleh Ahmad Khawari Isa

Yap Kim Hock
Situasinya memang sama.
揇aripada segi kemahiran dan kemampuan, kejayaan pemain-pemain negara memenangi gelaran Siri Super membuktikan mereka mampu melakukannya.

Badminton: Soon Kit can deliver
By LIM TEIK HUAT
KUALA LUMPUR: Former top doubles player Cheah Soon Kit will be appointed as the chief coach of the Klang Valley-based badminton club KLRC Bhd.
The club owner Datuk Seri Andrew Kam yesterday confirmed that the 1996 Atlanta Olympics silver medallist will start work with the club after a short break.
Soon Kit was the coach of the national women's doubles players for the last five years but quit the job with the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) earlier this week.
揝oon Kit will be the new chief coach of the club. He has enough experience and has proved to be able to deliver as what we have seen when he was working with the national women's doubles players, |

Danish pair dash Fairuzizuan-Zakry title hopes
PETALING JAYA: The hopes of Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari-Mohd Zakry Latif to lift their maiden international title were crushed by Danish veterans Jens Eriksen-Martin Lundgaard Hansen in the men's doubles final of the Copenhagen Masters invitational at the Falconer Centre yesterday.
The Malaysian pair were beaten 11-21, 17-21 in just 32 minutes.
It was the first Copenhagen Masters title for the Danish pair, who have two All-England titles to their names.
Eriksen-Hansen had topped Group A with a 21-15, 21-19 win over Poland's Michal Logosz-Robert Mateusiak in the evening session on Friday. They had beaten Ingo Kindervater-Kristof Hopp of Germany 21-16, 21-15 on Thursday.
Fairuzizuan-Zakry beat two Danish pairs to emerge as the Group B winner. They scored a 21-19, 21-15 win over former world champions Lars Paaske-Jonas Rasmussen on Thursday and came from behind to down Mathias Boe-Carsten Mogensen 18-21, 21-16, 21-18 the following day.
For Fairuzizuan-Zakry, it was the second time that they played in a final of an international competition since they were paired eight months ago. They were the runners-up in the Indonesian Open in May.
The pair are currently ranked 16th in the world and have a shot at qualifying for the Beijing Olympics if they do well in Super Series events before the May deadline for qualification.
Dane Peter-Gade Christensen lifted his eighth title in nine years, beating Kenneth Jonassen 21-18, 23-21 in the men's singles final yesterday.

PRESS RELEASE
BWF push for international umpires at Super Series events
31 December 2007
THE second year of the Badminton World Federation Super Series gets under way this month with the Malaysia Open in Kuala Lumpur (Jan 15-20) followed by the Korean Open (Jan 22-27) in Seoul.
And already BWF have plans to increase the number of international officials operating at the 12 different tournaments on the circuit.
To that end the BWF Events Committee is recommending that from 2009 it will be mandatory for a total of eight certificated and accredited foreign umpires to be invited to each and every Super Series event. It is already a recommendation for 2008 but for 2009 it will be compulsory with the board and lodging for these eight international (as opposed to home) officials the responsibility of the host organiser.
The third event of the 2008 Super Series is the Yonex All England Championships in March when the tournament will celebrate its 25th year of Yonex sponsorship.
The All England organisers have already issued invitations for two BWF certificated umpires to officiate in Birmingham but the BWF will be in talks to increase this number to eight non-UK officials under the current recommendations of the BWF Events Committee.
Anne Smillie, chairman of the BWF Events Committee, said today: "We want to increase the number of highly-qualified umpires throughout the badminton world to ensure officiating at our major events is of the highest standard possible.
"We are also acutely conscious that at some events there is particular need for umpire neutrality on court and we can achieve that by increasing the number of certificated and accredited umpires around the world. This is one of our big goals for 2008 and 2009."

Badminton: Boost for Chong Wei
By LIM TEIK HUAT
PETALING JAYA: Shuttler Lee Chong Wei's bid to regain the Malaysian Open crown have received a boost with the surprise absence of world number one Lin Dan from the tournament in Kuala Lumpur from Jan 15-20.
The Chinese is the only top men's singles player to give the season-opening Super Series event a miss. Lin Dan has never won a Malaysian Open title but he successfully in Kuala Lumpur in retained the world title last August.
He lost to Park Sung-hwan of South Korea in the second round of the Malaysian Open last January.
With Lin Dan opting out, Chong Wei has been given top billing in the Malaysian Open for the first time ahead of Chinese shuttlers Bao Chunlai and Chen Jin. Defending champion Peter-Gade Christensen is the fourth seed.
Chong Wei, ranked second in the world, was surprised to learn that Lin Dan was skipping the Malaysian Open.
揈veryone wants to pick up points in the Olympic year ... he has also not won the Malaysian Open before. Maybe he is tired and can take a break because he has enough ranking points to protect his lead, |
