LONDON: Alex Ferguson has entrenched his position yet further with regard to the ongoing Cristiano Ronaldo transfer battle, apparently leaving Manchester United in little doubt that he will walk out of Old Trafford should the Portuguese be sold without his consent.

ALEX FERGUSON is furious with the Premier League after being handed a stinker of a fixture schedule.
The Manchester United boss was critical of the list last season with away games planned after some key Champions League trips.
Butnow he has away games after all SIX of the club抯 Champions Leaguefirst group matches, while nearest rivals Chelsea and Liverpool havefour at home.
Arsene Wenger will be almost as unhappy as Fergie as his Arsenal side have five away dates.
Redslegend Paddy Crerand branded the Premier league a disgrace last nightand accused them of denying United help in defending their ChampionsLeague crown.
He rapped: 揈very other country seems to do everything to help their teams in Europe when it comes to domestic fixtures.

Legend!!
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has declared himself content with his ManchesterUnited career as he prepares to take the field one last time at OldTrafford.
The Norwegian striker, who will take on reserve teamcoaching duties from the start of next season, is set to play in atestimonial against Espanyol on August 2nd.
Solskjaer joined SirAlex Ferguson's side in 1996 but a long-term knee injury forced him tocall time on his playing days last year.
He has no regrets aboutstaying at United even though other opportunities arose, and hasthanked the club for their continuing support.
Solskjaer hasalso refused to be drawn into the debate on Cristiano Ronaldo's future, saying only that the best decision he ever made was to remain at United.
Ronaldohas yet to commit himself to United and Real Madrid have been inpursuit of the Portuguese winger since the end of last season.
Stubborn
"Inever fancied going," said Solskjaer. "The only time it was even anissue was when the club accepted a bid for me from Tottenham in 1998.
"Iwent to see the gaffer but he said 'I didn't accept it, I want you hereand you will play a big part in my squad'. I just thought that is goodenough for me I will stay.
"My agent was not very happy with me because I was so stubborn but nowadays even he admits I was right.
"Thething is, Manchester United always fitted me quite well. And I will beremembered as an important member of the team during a period whenManchester United has been very successful.
"I can see now that I will always be in the history books. That makes me very proud.
"I have an opinion on Cristiano but it is not my business to talk in public about it." |

Roma Ready To Swoop For Saha
Luciano Spalletti is believed to be a big admirer of the Frenchhit-man and Roma are currently working to strengthen their side aheadof the new season.
Il Messaggero claims that the Giallorossi have been working behindclosed doors for the past month with a view to swooping for thestriker.
Saha doesn't seem a part of Sir Alex Ferguson's immediate plans atOld Trafford and he could be on his way out. The striker's contractexpires in 2010 and the Red Devils are asking for |

What Will Sir Alex Do With Rodrigo Possebon?
[size=90%]揜odrigo is a tall, elegant midfielder who fits into the idea of a modern footballer. He has very good ability and is a box-to-box player rather than your silky tricky midfielder. He抯 very steady.
[size=90%]Our scout in Brazil John Calvert-Toulmin, who recommended our Brazilian full-back twins Fabio and Rafael Silva, spotted Rodrigo and we抳e been impressed.
[size=90%]His father is of Italian descent and so Rodrigo had an Italian passport. Because of that he is effectively European so all the paper work was sorted out easily.
[size=90%]Rodrigo also speaks very good English which has helped him. That makes a big difference.
[size=90%]He is young and has come a long way from his home to England but he has settled in very well. He抯 very level headed and we are pleased to have him.擺/i]
[size=90%]In other words, the kid is good, and most importantly will find it easier to settle in Manchester than, let抯 say, someone like Park or Dong (language makes a big, big difference).
[size=90%]The question is, in a midfield where Scholes, Hargreaves, Anderson and Carrick (and even Darren Fletcher) are ahead of him, what are the future prospects for Possebon?
[size=90%]Considering that this is a long-term acquisition, I think he抣l stay with us for the rest of the season (as opposed to being sent out on loan) and get integrated into the squad and our culture. Then, depending on how well he does (surely he抣l play pre-season), he could be sent out on loan to a Premier League side or if Possebon is really, really good, he could be elevated to the first team and Manchester United could end up selling Darren Fletcher / Michael Carrick.
[size=90%]Mind you, selling Carrick is highly unlikely given that Scholes is nearing retirement and Fletcher isn抰 top-notch. Fletch抯 future is more interesting but if O扴hea presence has given you any clue, as long as a squad player like Fletch is willing to stay, Fergie will keep them (Neville / Butt / Smith all left because they wanted to play more).
