Köln Have Right Of Refusal For Podolski
FC Köln supremo Michael Meier claims that they have first option on Lukas Podolski should Bayern Munich decide to part with the unsettled striker.
Although the head honcho's in Munich have stated repeatedly that 'Prinz Poldi' will not be leaving the club this winter, the youngster remains third in the Bayern pecking order when it comes to the strike department and has voiced his discontent on more than one occasion.
A high-profile move to another big European club is being mooted, but evidently there is also a high chance of a return to the club where he first made his name at, and where he is still treated as a demi-god despite switching allegiances.
"I have an agreement with (Bayern chairman) Karl-Heinz Rummenigge that he will inform me as soon as Bayern are prepared to sell Podolski," Meier was quoted as saying in Sport Bild magazine.
"Podolski has nothing against FC Bayern, but his family is simply not happy in Munich," Meier concluded revealingly. |

Lucio: I Could Leave Bayern
Bayern Munich's Brazilian star Lucio says his future is not set in stone at the club beyond the summer, but at the same time made sure to stress that he is happy at the Allianz Arena.
The 30-year-old was linked with a move away from Munich last season, but ultimately decided to stay true to the club who he has been serving admirably and with distinction since he first joined from Leverkusen in 2004.
Now, he has chosen to stir the pot a bit again by casting doubt over his future at the club, though the indications are still strong that he will stay loyal to the record champions.
"I don't have any particular plans because I want to concentrate on the season, but only dear God knows what happens afterwards," he told the German press."I have a contract until 2010. But I don't know what will happen after the summer."
He added: "Now my son is playing in the Bayern youth set-up and my family is happy here, I can imagine staying."There is always an 'if' - and if I were to stay here, then I would still be happy." |

Leverkusen the stealth bet
Hoffenheim's fairytale start and Bayern Munich's recent revival have captured all the headlines. but almost by stealth Bayer Leverkusen are emerging as perhaps an even better bet for the Bundesliga title.
Leverkusen are second in the table, sandwiched between Hoffenheim and Bayern, after four successive 2-0 wins. They have cut out the over-enthusiasm they showed early in their first season under Bruno Labbadia, the former Germany striker, and are now playing with confidence, patience and still, when required, panache.
Hoffenheim have been impressive in attack, of course, but have had more hair-raising moments in defence, while Bayern rely heavily on the form and fitness of Franck Ribery |
