KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6, 2014:
Albert Yam, the director of a video featuring nudists in Malaysia that set tongues wagging for non-erotic reasons, said he was willing to facilitate police investigations.
“They must pay for my coach fares,” the Singaporean told The Rakyat Post.
Yam’s five-minute-26-second video, which has since gone viral, featured 18 nudists holding their annual Malaysia Nude Sports Games 2014 at a secluded part of an island in Penang.
The video saw participants painting each other’s body after stripping down before going for a 2km walk and skinny dipping.
Police are currently investigating the matter under Section 509 of the Penal Code for words or gestures intended to insult the modesty of a person.
Yam also said he was not afraid of any legal action that could be taken against him, joking that some policemen “liked to be in the nude too”.
He admitted that he never expected the video to turn into a huge issue, adding that he would now keep a low profile.
“We will still continue with such activities, but just not now.”
The nude games, Yam claimed, was the first ever held in the country and explained that they chose Teluk Bahang as it was a secluded site.
When asked about accusations by some quarters that the group was uncivilised, Yam pointed out that everyone was born naked.
“Even when we pass away, we also go to heaven naked.”
Yam also confirmed that the organiser was a Malaysian.
Two local dailies have already identified the individual as Chew Tok Hwa.
A check on her Facebook account revealed that Chew, from Sungai Petani, had uploaded articles related to nudism.
