Brazilhave drawn 0-0 with Argentina in their World Cup 2010 Qualifying Matchat the Mineirao Stadiumin Belo Horizonte, Brazil on Wednesday night.
The game started cagily, with neither side willing to commit tooheavily, but with the home-side having a slight advantage in possessionin the opening period.
Brazil were hoping to maintain their amazing record of not havinglost a competitive home match since they lost 3-1 to Peru in the CopaAm閞ica in September 1975.
Julio Ricardo Cruz had a vague attempt for Argentina in the 16thminute, but his headed shot was saved easily by Julio C閟ar in theBrazil goal.
It was Brazil who had the first proper attempts at goal, with JulioBaptista forcing Roberto Abbondanzieri into a fine save, with Robinhoin to try and follow-up.
The Albiceleste defence crowded out the Real Madrid striker to deny him a second chance minutes later.
Manchester United midfielder Anderson was forced off the pitch inthe 34th minute with an injury. Anderson was replaced by Diego.
Argentina had a late flourish towards the end of the first period, but Juan Riquelme抯 free kick from distance had no effect and LionelMessi抯 strike on the break going tamely wide of goal.
The half finished 0-0, with neither team really taking the game totheir opponents, and apart from Brazil抯 chance in the middle of thehalf, there were no real opportunities carved by either side.
The second-half started at the same tame pace that the first-halffinished, but the visitors began to take the ascendancy in the match.
Argentina had a superb chance to take the lead in the 57th minute, but Julio Ricardo Cruz, after receiving a wonderful pass from Riqulemejust inside the penalty area, had a great opportunity to score, but theInter Milan striker somehow blazed his close-range shot over the bar.
Julio Cruz was replaced by Sergio Leonel Aguero in the 68th minute,as Albiceleste head coach Basile attempted to break Brazil抯exceptional competitive home record.
Lionel Messi had his shot blocked and Juan Riquelme had his shotsaved as the Albiceleste tried to take the game to Brazil in theclosing stages of the game.
Luis Fabiano came on for Adriano to try and invigorate the Sele鏰oattack and immediately started to make inroads into the well-marshalledArgentina defence.
Argentina finished the second-half the stronger team of the two, butwere restricted to just two real chances in the match, which were bothdealt with well by C閟ar in The Brazil goal.
The match finished 0-0, with neither team really having deserved towin, with Brazil shading the first-half, and the visitors having by farthe better chances in the second period.
Argentina remain 2nd in the CONMEBOL world Cup qualifying group behind Paraguay, with Brazil 4th.
The Brazilian head coach Dunga was jeered by the home fans at theend of the match, with the former Sele鏰o star's job reportedly underthreat.

It may have been Brazil versus Argentina, but it was not without a taste of the North-West of England, it seems.
The South American rivals played out a rather disappointing goalless draw last night in their World Cup qualifying clash, a game that will more likely than not be remembered for the jeers directed at Dunga and the injury picked up by midfielder Anderson.
The Manchester United man went to ground following a challenge from Javier Mascherano, and would not get back up.
He was in considerable pain as the medics tried to work on the outside of his left knee, and was almost in tears as he was stretched off after three long minutes.
There is fear of ligament damage, something that could rule the youngster out for the start of the season if not more, particularly if it is the anterior cruciate ligament.
However, a confirmation will only come after scans later today, so there is reason for Manchester United and Brazil fans to hope it is nothing serious
