Arsenal hijack Silvestre move
Arsenal have reportedly hijacked Man City's move for Man United defender Mikel Silvestre.
Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger credited his interest just as the player was having a medical at Eastlands, which prompted him to cut his proceedings short with City and make his way over to the Arsenal boss to discuss personal terms.
The United player has been given the opportunity for a free transfer and is free to choose his destination. With Arsenal notoriously keeping their cards close to their chest and showing their hand late as with this case it seems the player's mind is now made up.
An Arsenal insider revealed to the sun (who are credited with the story):
“Arsene has been looking for experienced cover for Gael Clichy and he knows all about Mikael.
"Arsene has followed his career with France and at United and the fact he is French is a bonus.”
If Arsenal sign Silvestre it can only mean strengthening in defensive areas which is a positive, he will also provide much needed cover at left back and though he is 31 I believe he can still do a decent job as a squad player. Credit to the boss for keeping his eyes and ears open once again (if the story is true) and waiting for the moment to make a move for a player that will enhance the squad no doubt. |

Nacer Barazite joins Derby County on loan

Arsenal can today confirm that midfielder Nacer Barazite has joined Derby County FC on loan until December 31, 2008.
Barazite (18) had a strong campaign across the Reserves and Under-18s in 2007/08, scoring 18 times and contributing more by way of assists.
Nacer has made two first team appearances, his debut came in the Carling Cup win over Sheffield United last term, however a dislocated shoulder in the next round away at Blackburn interrupted his season.
The Dutchman bounced back and ended the campaign as an unused substitute in the final Premier League fixture, before notching the winning goal in the traditional pre-season curtain-raiser at Barnet.
Nacer is a Dutch youth international and was a key part of his nation抯 UEFA Under-19 Championship qualifying campaign.

mikael silvestre?? biar betik....xdenya nak beli lagi left back aih...we already have armand traore...gael is already a 4 season-experienced player..so no need another experienced player..armand is coming through...by next season, gael will be 24, n armand will get more chances. so no need 31year old's experience ma..
wenger cakap akan ade perkembangan pasal transfer before 2nd leg against Twente...so we'll see.. |

Wenger - It is time to get behind Adebayor

Ars鑞e Wenger has asked Arsenal fans to show their support for striker Emmanuel Adebayor.
It was announced on Monday that the Togolese frontman had committed his future to the Club by putting pen to paper on a new long-term deal.
The news ended a summer of speculation in which the 24-year-old was linked with a move away from Emirates Stadium.
But, speaking before the official announcement, Wenger said that newspaper reports over the summer did not reflect the striker抯 揹eep desire |
