In an appearance on Filmy抯 Aaj Ki Filmy Khabar, with Mayank Shekhar, Raveena hotly contested all allegations that she has ever used any artificial stunts or tricks to get publicity in her career. At last People fulfill Saif's wish

After a lot of heartburn, confusion and passionate debate, the title of Vishal Bharadwaj's film based on Shakespeare's "Othello" has been decided by a poll. "Omkara" it is.

When the cast and crew failed to choose an apt title out of three options - "Omkara", "Issak" and "O Saathi Re" - it was decided that it should be finalised by an audience poll.

Kumar Mangat, the producer of the film, tied up with newspapers, magazines, radio, television and the Net and asked readers and listeners to send their opinion. More than 80 percent voted for "Omkara".

"We received 2.5 million votes from all over the world and 80 percent of the people voted for 'Omkara'. 'Omkara' is larger than life and we always wanted to have a title beginning with 'O'," said Mangat.

Ajay Devgan, who plays the title role in the film, is not so happy. He said: "I wanted 'Issak'. People were a bit confused and that is why we had an audience poll. Now there's no confusion."

However, Saif Ali Khan is thrilled with the result and said: "I am very happy, as I was always partial to the title 'Omkara'."

Bipasha Basu, one of the female leads in the film, gave a diplomatic response.

"'Omkara' is the director's vision and when the director is happy, everyone is happy. Keeping the essence of 'Othello' intact, 'Omkara' is an entertainer with commercial actors, treated realistically in a completely different set-up and with beautiful cinematography," she said.

Its Dhoom time, Aishwarya Rai is coming

Dhoom 2, the much-hyped sequel to the hit Bollywood film "Dhoom", will be partly shot in South Africa by Yashraj Films.

A.B. Moosa, managing director of the Avalon Group of cinemas, announced that the company would be facilitating the South African production leg of "Dhoom 2".

Speaking at the official opening of the company's latest multiplex Lenasia Cinecentre at the mainly Indian township of Lenasia, south of here, he said: "The film is being produced by our dear friends the Chopra family of Yash Raj Films and we are proud to be working with them on this exciting project."

The movie is expected to be one of the biggest Bollywood movies of the year.

"The shoot will mean that we will have in South Africa for the first time the former Miss World Aishwarya Rai, rated amongst the top 10 most beautiful women in the world," he said.

The other stars in "Dhoom 2" include Bollywood heartthrobs Abhishek Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Uday Chopra and Bipasha Basu.

"The shoot is going to entail fast-paced action sequences, helicopter chases and much more," Moosa added.

Qatar Airways will be sponsoring air travels from India to South Africa for the entire cast and production crew.

"Shooting 'Dhoom 2' here will have huge spin-offs for the tourism industry and the economy of South Africa," said Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker.

"The film, which will be seen by millions around the world, will be a great advertisement for South Africa. It will encourage further shoots by the producer and others from India and from around the globe."

Plans are being finalised to begin shooting at various South African locations later this month.

Reportedly, Pradeep Sarkar teamed up with Yash Raj Films and he will direct his next untitled movie with Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukerjee and Vidya Balan in the lead.

This is the second time that Saif Ali Khan and Vidya Balan will be paired together on screen. The film reportedly is an emotional love story and the media grapevine has it that Pradeep Sarkar would not go for adaptation of any novel as he did for his first film 慞arineeta

SRK-Karan Johar combo winning firang fans

The Shah Rukh Khan-Karan Johar combo is again making waves in Poland. After reaping rich dividends with "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham" last year, it is now "Kal Ho Naa Ho" that is raking in money at the Polish box office.

The film, starring Shah Rukh, Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta, is being shown in three cinema halls simultaneously with Polish subtitles. And Gutek Films, which premiered the film Friday, is overwhelmed with the public response.

"Things are moving beyond our expectations. Now every week we will take this film to a new town so that the Polish people can taste Bollywood masala," a representative of the Gutek films told.

People in the Polish capital, particularly the young, are hugely enjoying the music of the film, which features foot-tapping numbers like "It's The Time To Disco" and "Mahi Ve".

Commenting upon the film's performance, Indian Ambassador Anil Wadhwa said: "The draw of Shah Rukh Khan is fantastic and people are now well versed with his CV. Very soon, his other films like 'Veer-Zaara' will be shown in Polish cities.

"Bollywood is no longer a strange word for the Polish people. In this globalised world, Indian films finally are searching new territories and luckily they have found a sound market like Poland," he added.

"My son Chris, who earlier used to watch Hindi movies on video, now takes his Polish friends to the movie hall," said Anna Bem, who is married to an Indian professor.

Gaberilla Krzyzowska, an Indophile whose husband is the president of Polish-Indian Cultural Committee, agreed: "We are very happy that Indian movies are being popularised in Poland."

Film producer Sajid Nadiadwala, who believes in the credo "no guts no glory", has invested Rs.1 billion in three new directors -- Shirish Kunder, Sajid Khan and Sabir Khan.

"I am competitive by nature and as a child I used to hate to lose. That competitive streak may have helped me in becoming a successful producer. It is a calculated risk but I know I am on a winning streak. I am looking forward to these three new talents to make their mark in the industry," Nadiadwala told .

Unlike other producers who launch freshers with a small budget movie, Nadiadwala has provided the three new directors a big canvas and an impressive cast.

Kunder's much-awaited directorial debut "Jaaneman" has Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Preity Zinta and has shaped up well. Sajid Khan's "Hey Baby" also boasts of an impressive cast -- Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Fardeen Khan and Riteish Deshmukh. And Sabir Khan's untitled film will have a huge canvas as well.

Incidentally, while Kunder is choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan's husband, Sajid Khan is her brother.

With most of his films, including "Jeet", "Judwaa", "Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega" and "Mujshe Shaadi Karogi" proving to be blockbusters, it looks like Nadiadwala's new investments will pay off handsomely

SITI NAFI TERIMA ROMBONGAN PEMINANGAN
KUALA LUMPUR - Penyanyi popular, Siti Nurhaliza, 27 tahun, menafikan khabar bahawa satu rombongan meminang tiba di kediamannya untuk melamarnya pada 7 Mei lalu.

Siti berkata tiada rombongan melamar tiba atau majlis pertunangan berlangsung di rumahnya pada tarikh itu.

Beliau menggesa media dan peminat agar usah mudah percayakan khabar angin dan berjanji akan mengeluarkan kenyataan mengenai perkara itu apabila tiba masanya.

'Ini janji Siti... jadi peminat dan media tidak perlu risau,' kata Siti kelmarin.

INGIN RUJUK SEMULA SELEPAS CERAI TALAK SATU
KUALA LUMPUR - Pasangan pelakon Norman Hakim dan Abby Abadi bercerai dengan talak satu pada Jumaat lalu.

Namun, mereka berdua kini bersetuju untuk merujuk semula.

'Saya sudah meminta maaf berkali-kali dengan Abby supaya kami dapat hidup bersama semula.

'Namun menerusi kiriman SMS itu ada juga 'terlepas' perkataan berbau kemesraan, tetapi pada saya, ia hanya gurauan dan tidak bermaksud serius,' katanya.

Norman mengakui perkara itu menjadi punca pergaduhan beliau dengan Abby.

'Pagi semalam (kelmarin), saya menghubungi Abby di rumah keluarganya untuk memberitahu betapa saya kesal dengan apa yang terjadi dan mahu kami berbaik semula.

'Alhamdulillah, Abby juga bersetuju dan mahu kami membina hidup baru,' katanya, sebak.

Kata Siti, berdasarkan pengalamannya meneroka pasaran Indonesia bukanlah mudah, sebaliknya pelbagai halangan dan rintangan perlu dilalui.

'Memang terlalu sukar untuk menembusi pasaran Indonesia. Mereka tidak akan menerima sesuatu yang mereka sudah ada, kecuali yang berbeza.

'Bagi saya, orang Indonesia begitu patriotik kerana mereka tidak begitu mudah membuka pintu mereka untuk orang luar. Kita juga perlukan semangat itu,' kata Siti dalam Harian Metro.

If rumours to be believed, Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai shot a sizzling kiss scene recently in Rio De Janeiro for 'Dhoom' 2. The rumour also has it that the kiss between Ash and Hrithik not just a humble peck. It's a lip-lock or rather a French kiss and it almost one and a half minute long.

Hrithik and Aishwarya both have experience of doing kiss scene earlier. Hrithik in his debut film 'Kaho Na Pyaar Hai' itself had kissed Aamisha Patel and as for Ash, she shot a sizzling smooch scene with her ex-boyfriend Vivek Oberoi in 'Kyon Ho Gaya Na'.

As per source, Hrithik and Ash were quite comfortable doing the smooch scene.

No discomfiture with Esha: Aftab!

Once lovebirds Esha Deol and Aftab Shivdasani will be seen wooing each other again, however on screen.

They have been cast together in Vikram Bhatt's forthcoming 'Ankahee', where Esha plays second woman in Aftab's life. Aftab and Esha had first worked together in 'Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe'. How was it working with Esha again? Aftab said, "There was no discomfiture with Esha on the sets. In fact, we were so involved with the film that there was no animosity whatsoever. I think Esha is a fantastic in the film."

No doubt, all credit for bringing back Esha and Aftab on screen is director Vikram Bhatt's. Was casting Esha and Aftab, who were seeing each other once, done or purpose?

"No, it just kind of fell in place. The casting was not done by design," Vikram replied.

Film on Abhishek-Karishma love affair!

Director Nilesh Mulye is all to make a film based on the 'love story' of Abhishek Bachchan and Karishma Kapoor.

Mulye is writing its script currently. Raj Gandhi has agreed to produce the film. In an interview, Mulye said his film has been tentatively titled 'Glamour' and it has been inspired by high profile marriages and divorces in high society and corporate circles.

"My idea is not to show either Sanjay Kapur or Karishma Kapoor in a negative light. I have just been inspired by the love story of Abhishek Bachchan and Karishma, their break-up, Karishma's marriage on the rebound to Sanjay Kapur, their hurried honeymoon and a subsequent split and coming together," Mulye said. As per reports, newcomers will be roped in for playing lead role.
