Chelsea target Ribery move
Chelsea have reportedly made Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery their top target when the transfer window opens in January.
The capital club are free to sign any player they want during the transfer window following a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) which suspended a transfer ban imposed by FIFA pending a final review.
Fifa had ruled that Chelsea could not sign players until 2011 after being found guilty of inducing Lens player Gael Kakuta to break his contract. The Blues have consistantly denied any wrongdoing - and seem set to fight the ban all the way as CAS look to make a ruling some time next year.
Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck recently announced that the west London side were looking to make a "marquee signing" as they challenge strongly for both Premier League and Champions League glory under the guidence of new coach Carlo Ancelotti.
According to a report in The Telegraph, this big name acquisition is said to be Ribery, who is believed to be unsettled by the fact that a number of clubs are chasing his signature.
And with the Bavarian side currently mired mid-table in the Bundesliga and yet to qualify for the last sixteen of the Champions League the newspaper believes that Ribery will push for a move in the new year.
Bayern reportedly refused a £40 million offer for the player from the Blues earlier this year, whilst big-spending Manchester City and Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid have also showed interest in the French international.
Ribery is currently nursing a knee injury, which has had an adverse effect on his time at the Allianz Arena, limiting him to only six appearances so far this season.

Ashley Out For Several Weeks
Ashley Cole had picked up a leg infection playing against Atletico Madrid at Stamford Bridge, it has been reported that he is suffering from a depressed fracture of his shin, a condition that was diagnosed after the 1-0 win on Sunday at Stamford Bridge against Manchester United.
The original injury kept him out of the League Cup tie against Bolton Wanderers and the Premier League matches against Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers but returned for the away Champions League match against Atletico, a game that ended 2-2.
It is understood that Cole will miss the England friendly against Brazil in Qatar next Saturday and also the visit of struggling Wolverhampton Wanderers to Stamford Bridge on the 14th of November.
However, according to reports, Chelsea are hopeful that he will be back and fit for the visit to The Emirates where he will face his former side the Goons.
Meanwhile, despite being booked in the incident, Didier Drogba faces a scan on his chest as it is feared that he may have fractured his ribs after the kung-fu like assault that was carried out by Manchester Utd’s Jonny Evans in the game on Sunday.
Chelsea are, according to some reports, concerned that he may well be out of action for up to three weeks. |

Frank Lampard Could Be Out Until 2010
Chelsea's personnel problems continue to mount, as The Daily Mail claims that Frank Lampard could be out of action until the New Year.
On Thursday the midfielder became the latest of several stars to withdraw from the England squad ahead of this weekend's friendly against Brazil, after tearing a thigh muscle in training.
Initial reports indicated that the problem was only minor, but now there are fears that the Blues could be without their talismanic middle-man for up to seven weeks.
Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti recently expressed concern that his key players could become burnt out before the business end of the season rolls around.
Lampard has already played 58 official games for club and country this calendar year, and his Italian boss is determined to make sure the 31-year-old is fully fit before he rejoins the fray.
The Stamford Bridge outfit are already without star wing-backs Ashley Cole and Jose Bosingwa, the latter expected to miss three months after undergoing knee surgery.
