Shaina Magdayao got the surprise of her life when Rayver Cruz gifted her with Teacup Yorkshire Terrier, a toy dog that she can carry around wherever she goes. At the presscon of "Shoes Ko Po, Shoes Ko Day," their new episode in "Love Spell" for the entire month of March, we asked Rayver how much is the puppy that Shaina now calls Rain. He wouldn抰 reveal it but someone else told us he shelled P40,000 for it. "Mahirap kasi hanapin ang ganoong breed," says Rayver. "There are only two breeders here in our country."
Some folks compare Shaina to Paris Hilton and Britney Spears who also have a dog as personal props, but we don抰 want to compare Shaina with these two Hollywood celebrities who both have unsavory reputations as she抯 certainly more wholesome than them.
In "Shoes Ko Po," Shaina and Rayver appear with their co-dancers in the "Ultimate Dance 4" album, Maja Salvador and John Prats. Maja and Shaina play sisters who get into trouble because of Maja抯 imperious ways. A fairy disguised as a party girl puts a curse on them and they become comedians Pokwang and Cheena. "Gaganda lang kami when we both wear a pair of red shoes," says Shaina. "So anywhere we go, suot namin ang red shoes dahil kung hindi, we revert to being Pokwang and Cheena. We get to dance all the dance cuts in our album in this show."
Shaina and Rayver are so busy these days as they not only tape regularly for "Love Spell" and "Abt Ur Luv" but are also busy promoting their "UD4" album and their launching flick, "Happy Hearts," in various mall shows. "We are so overwhelmed kasi kahit saang mall kami magpunta, the response of the crowd is so warm and encouraging," says Rayver. |

JOHN LLOYD CRUZ: THE FIRST TIME... THE LAST TIME
MANILA, MARCH 5, 2007 (STAR) CONVERSATIONS With Ricky Lo - He adores Sean Penn (21 Grams, etc.) and reads Mitch Albom (Tuesdays with Morrie, Five People You Meet in Heaven and For One More Day) and he can see things in a clearer perspective when he抯 alone in the silence of his room (his favorite sanctuary).
"I抦 not a social butterfly," said John Lloyd Cruz. "Yes, maybe you can call me a loner."
It took Bea Alonzo, his perennial partner in ABS-CBN soaps (the latest being Maging Sino Ka Man), a while to penetrate the shell which John Lloyd used to hide in.
"On the set," Bea once recalled, "he would keep to himself in one corner. He had a certain air of mystery."
"I find him a very deep actor," said Vilma Santos with whom John Lloyd is scheduled to star in a movie to be shot mostly in the US. "He抯 in the category of Dindo Fernando. I抦 excited to work with him."
Coming from The Star For All Seasons, those words of praise fattens John Lloyd抯 heart ("Nakakataba ng puso";).
"I抦 even more excited than she is," smiled John Lloyd. "Not every new actor gets the chance to work with the Vilma Santos."
In the recent past, John Lloyd also got the opportunity to co-star with Aga Muhlach, in Star Cinema抯 Dubai (directed by Rory Quintos) where John Lloyd won as many hearts as Aga did with his engrossing portrayal of Aga抯 younger brother caught in a love triangle with Claudine Barretto (as Aga抯 girlfriend). John Lloyd抯 hospital scene toward the end is, I think, one of the most moving in recent memory.
No wonder John Lloyd is touted as the next drama stalwart. A little more honing and he抣l be well on the way in that direction.
Meanwhile, John Lloyd enjoys being the Prince of Soap who has an enviable track record: As Rovic in Tabing-Ilog, Yuri in Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay, Lawrence in It Might Be You, Oliver in Ikaw ang Lahat sa Akin and Ely in the ongoing top-rated Maging Sino Ka Man.
He抯 also earning the reputation as the Commercial Prince (with, as if you didn抰 know, Aga Muhlach as the Commercial King; and Sharon Cuneta and Kris Aquino in a tie as Commercial Queens). Agaknya la marissa, tapi semua tak jadi pun. Buang masa jer.....Umur baru 23, dah becinta dengan perempuan ntah berapa tahun lebih tua dari dia. Si pretty ugly mesti dah banyak umur dia...

Two months na palang nanliligaw ang young actor na si Rayver Cruz sa ka-loveteam niyang si Shaina Magdayao. Since nagsimula raw silang mag-shoot ng pelikula nilang Happy Hearts for Regal Entertainment ay sinimulan na rin ng 17-year-old male teen star ang panliligaw sa kanyang leading lady.
"Okey naman kay Ate Vina. Sinabi lang niya sa akin na huwag kong pababayaan si Shaina kasi bunso raw siya at ayaw nilang malagay siya sa pahamak. I promised naman that I will always look after her."

If 17-year-old actor Rayver Cruz would find out that his father, hypothetically speaking, was gay, he said he抎 be shocked like his character in his launching movie "Happy Hearts" from Regal Entertainment.
"But I think I抎 eventually accept him for who he is because he抯 my father. I mean I won抰 be in this world if not for him," he asserted in Filipino.
More than just being the first official movie of the Shai-Ver (Shaina Magdayao-Rayver Cruz) love team, "Happy Hearts" is about the relationship of Rayver to his closet gay-professor-father played by Rustom Padilla. And their father and son situation gets funnier as Rustom抯 lover portrayed by TV-hunk Wendell Ramos, gets into the picture!
"I抦 really pressured yet I抦 still very excited because this is my first film. But on my part I made sure that this would be a good movie to watch. It抯 a funny and romantic film and I know our fans will enjoy watching it," Rayver said.
