rae godek2 kat wikipedia td...br tau Isaac Asimov ni Honorary member of The Phi Beta Kappa Society kat US.
The Phi Beta Kappa Society is an academic honor society with the mission of "fostering and recognizing excellence" in undergraduate liberal arts and sciences.
Founded at the College of William and Mary on 5 December 1776, it is the oldest such society in the United States. Membership is granted to approximately 1% of college graduates, and today there are 270 chapters and over half a million living members.
Since election to the Society occurs on a school-by-school basis, membership standards are not uniform; nevertheless, no member school may induct more than 10% of its graduating class (although most chapters invite a significantly smaller percentage to membership).
As such, Phi Beta Kappa is generally considered to be the most selective and prestigious of all college honor societies and election to membership one of the highest honors available to undergraduate collegians.
Source: WIki
Among the honorary members:
1. Alexander Graham Bell
2. Mark Twain
3. Woodrow Wilson
4. Calvin Coolidge
5. Franklin D. Roosevelt
6. Harry S. Truman
hebat :pompom:

ISAAC ASIMOV - SCI-FI GENRE
dear friends -
wondering ramai tak kat sini yang minat sci fi
cuz it is one of the genre yang memang sangat saya minati -
and asimov is one of my favourite authors -
(besides arthur c clarke and robert heinlein -)
been reading his book since i was 16 when i was in canada-
and been introduced with I, Robot --
what a magnificent book and awesome story
(there's a movie couple years ago starring will smith -
but the book BY FAR much better)
and the second book -
a cave of steel about detectives R Daneel Olivaw and plainclothes Elijah Baley
and their interaction -- R = Robot
what a great book!!
and since this book i always remember 3 Laws of
Robotic introduced by Asimov:
1 - a robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction,
allow a human being to come to harm.
2 - a robot must obey the orders given it by human beings
except where such orders would conflict with the first law.
3 - a robot must protect its own existence as long as such
protection does not conflict with the first or second Law
and the best from asimov was his FOUNDATION book!!
(foundation, foundation and empire and second foundation
the old ones -- then the new ones : foundation edge, foundation
and earth, prelude to foundation - some few more i cant even
remember offhand - i remember reading those in my second year
universityi reallly love those! )
i urge for anyone here who is interested in Sci Fi -
this is an author u shuldnt missed --
u love star trek
u love star wars
u love tek wars
u gonna love asimov ---
happy reading --
and i love this quote from asimov -
"And above all things, never think that you're not good
enough yourself. A man should never think that.
My belief is that in life people will take you at your own reckoning." |

Hi dexa, I love asimov's works. there was a thread on asimov before
http://forum.cari.com.my/viewthr ... mp;highlight=asimov
you've listed all his foundation books except for his last book - 'forward the foundation' that he wrote just prior to his demise.
and don't forget his zeroth law of robotic that supersedes all 3.... really genius |
