There has been talk of an idol group going around. Teenage idol band F.T Island, whom gained much popularity even before their debut, opened their first showcase. Let's see some clips of their performance, the band's talent said to outweigh their handsome faces.

The day that idol band F.T Island, a group that declares they will try to live up to their name (Five Treasures) held their first showcase. We met this group, with many fans expecting much success from them.

F.T Island is a group possessing musical talent, both vocally and instrumentally.
Q) What does "F.T Island" mean?
A) Our name F.T Island means 'five treasure island', or that each of us are unique treasures wich hidden talents and musical skills that make up this group." (Choi Jong Hoon)
During their first showcase on the 27th of May, F.T Island performed their musical abilities to their large group of fans.
"Sometimes people ask us, 'Are you guys really a treasure island?' And whenever they do, I reply like this: 'Just wait, and you'll be surprised. We'll show you what we're really made of.'" (Lee Jae Jin)
F.T Island gained many fans through only one program they aired on cable TV, where they made their faces known publicly.
On this showcase day, over 2,000 fans came to see them perform. F.T Island really gained much popularity.
With all of the members extremely handsome, there are many older fans who take a liking to a particular member.
Q) Who is that member?

The artists for 2007's Big 4 Concert have been chosen,.
July 21st-22nd at the Olympic Stadium will be the 2007 Big 4 Concert with Hip Hop and R&B Rock Ballad, of 8 teams of singers.
On the 21st, the Hip Hop genre will be presented with artists: Drunken Tiger, T-Yoon Mi Rae, Dynamic Duo and Epik High. Then on the 22nd, for the R&B Rock Ballad genre, artist like: SG Wannabe, YangPa, See Ya and F.T. Island will perform
Especially, since F.T. Island has recently made their debut, this is a big oppurtunity for them.
An M.Net media staff says, "F.T. Island appeals to 10-20 year olds with the right voices and sound to be with respected senior singers like SH Wannabe, YangPa and See Ya."
For this line up, in te afternoon of the 25th, starting at 2pm the tickets will be on sale through the internet. As this is a good concert with great artists, the tikets are going on sale early.

They got all the ingrediants that form the idol group: God - sent looks, sweet smiling eyes, and the cheers from tailing fans. They, however, are merely a band of 5 teenagers.
FT Island is a 5 member band, Jonghun Choi (guitar.piano,17) Hongki Lee (vocal, 17) Wonbin Oh (guitar.vocal, 17) Jaejin Lee (Base, 16) Minhwan Choi (15, drum), and has all the key points of an idol group.
The name, FT Island is the shortened form of Five Treasure Island, and true to its name, the band is consisted of 5 talents.
Jonghun has been playing piano since he was 7. He picked up guitar when he was later discovered through the audition. Wonbin, who originally dreamt to be a vocal, also started learning guitar after he passed the audition. Now, he is not only a guitarist and a vocal but also a rapper.
From good looks to talents, these newbies got it all! (SCARY!)
Hongki Lee was originally a child actor who was casted in KBS 1TV's children's drama "Magic Kid Masuri" and MBC TV soap opera "Bingjum." He also received passionate applause from the audience when he sang on the final episode of EBS's "Ggangsuni." He boasts the talents of both the actor and a singer.
Minhwan Choi, who had actively participated in his school band in 7th grade, has been drumming since 6th grade.
When asked if his parents opposed his musician life, Wonbin replied "They didnt as long as I got my school work done. We may not be top of the class, we atleast could stay in the middle." However, its not like they do music as a hobbie. They practice 10 hours every day.
"We all got together 2 years ago. As soon as our afternoon classes were over, we gathered in the studio, ate lunch, and then practiced from 2 pm to 12 am. We practiced 10 hours daily without any holidays. So I guess that makes it about 7000 hours of practicing." - Wonbin.
"If I had to practice alone, I'd have given up in the middle of it all. But with 5 of us working together, I never got sick of it. When music...how should I say...came together, the excitement was like whoa." - Hongki
With their passion for music already greather than their age, they also revealed some greed about their debut album "Cheerful Sensibility."
Whatever that is being said about us, we'll fight back with our skill!
Their first album is divided into two chapters: 'emotional' and experimental 'Island.'
"As it says, 'emotional' chapter have emotional songs and 'Island' chapter features what we want to challenge as our own tune." - Jaejin.
The emotional chapter includes sweet melodious songs such as the title song "Love Sick" by Jae Hyun Ryu (Vibe) and "Man's first love goes to his grave" by Gun Yun. The Island chapter has self - introduction like "FT Island." "FT Island"s lyric, "I may seem young but I'm different. Dont look at me the same way," seems like the band's response to their critics.
"I want to perform infront of those who doubt our skill based on our looks and ages," said Hongki. He expressed the emotional agony that the band has been through by saying "I want to prove to them wrong." Jaejin defined the term 'idol' in 'idol group' as a role model for fans. "So its not wrong to be called an idol group, isnt it?"
Then the band justified themselves.
"FT Island is a band with color just like the five islands that have different looks and infinite possibilities. It's an honor to be compared to the Buzz, but instead of being called "[ ] the 2nd,"we'd like to clearly show off our own identity. Korea is not really big on band music right now, but if it does become big because of us, wouldn't there be "FT Island the 2nd?"

The way the band was formed was through an audition 2 years ago. Jaejin Lee (16, base) and Minhwan Choi (15, drum), both of whom have been part of their own band, leader Jonghun Choi (17, guitar & piano), Hongki Lee (17, vocal), and Wonbin Oh (17, guitar & vocal) were selected.
After the selection, the band members clung to exhausting practice in order to achieve, more than anything else, a skill that parallals their apperance.
"We practiced for 10 hours in the studio every day from 1 pm. I missed my parents but it was fun to create music as a band. I figured if I was gaining some, then I also had to lose some." - Wonbin
Wonbin is not only skilled in music but also in martial arts. He has trained in number of sports such as kick boxing since he was a child, and the sum of his levels in various martial arts is about 4 ~ 5.
Hongki Lee first debuted as an actor but later decided to be a musician. He appeared in KBS 2TV children's drama 'Magic Kid Masuri' and MBC TV drama "Bingjun."
Especially in EBS TV, he appeared in numerous dramas such as "Ggangsuni," "I still have light remaining at the edge of my finger nail," "Hanzazidon Dorongi," "Fairy Tale read through TV" and was nicknamed "EBSHongstar."
Hongki expressed his confidance by replying to the shallow critics, "We've practiced really hard for past 2 years. We'll prove this at the concert."
But why a band? With a look like theirs, couldnt they have succeeded even faster as a boy band without instruments?
To this, Jonghun Choi said "I really like the music that comes out at the tip of my fingers. Even though I spent 2 years of my childhood in the studio, I dont regret it at all."
Jaejin Lee also agreed. "I have been in love with the masculity of the base since middle school."
Towards the music they want to create, they all shouted "the music that is entirely FT ISLAND!"
Jonghun is intrested in Acid Jazz such as Jamiroquai. Wonbin likes strong rock such as Hoobastank and Muze. Jaejin is a fan of Mr.Big and Red Hot Chilly Peppers.
"We were shaking so much on our first tv appearance," confessed the band. They concluded the interview with a mature comment: "We wanted to emphasize our perfection rather than just sharing music."

[News] F.T Island, Pop Industry's Risen 5 Treasures
The new boy band of 5 individuals FT Island (Five Trasure Island) is the "Handsome band." From 16 to 18 years old, they debuted to the pop industry with their debut album title "Love Sick."
Their songs feature rock, ballade and medium tempo; they present very mature sensibility and warm the heart of their fans. In response to being complimented as the "Handsome band," they say, "thank you, but we'd like to be evaluated on our music rather than on our looks."
Although they are new, there arent many teens that do not know of them. For two months since last march, they appeared on music channel Mnet's "Wanna be my boyfriend?" and caught the eyes of numerous girl fans. Soon after the premiere of the show, the number of their fan cafe members exceeded 1 million. When they finally debuted as musicians and as the band on the 27th last month, all 2000 seats were filled with fans. Their first fan signing held at Busan on the 17th gathered about 5000 fans and created a heck of a crowd.
For the first time on the 8th of last month, they took the 10th place on "Naver - Search Ranking for Korean pop stars." Then on the 16th, they rose without stopping to the 1st place. On the same day, they also took the top spot on "Naver -Daily Search Ranking for Persons." A serious air is perceived by everyone on and off line. When met in Seoul for an interview on the 12th, they were shadowed by a herd of femalw fans. Fans in their eartly twenties were all smiles even by looking at the handsome youngsters. FT Island, "We want to be the next YB"
A Scary newbie has appeared; Rock band of five teenagers FT Island. It hasnt been a month since its debut but their first album 'Cheerful Sensibility' is already ranking top spots on and offline.
This unstoppable teenage rockband sprouted from memebers' harsh training since they were in elementary school. From the youngest 8th grader Minhwan (drum), 9th grader Jaejin (bass), and 10th graders Hongki (vocal), Wonbin (guitar, vocal), and Jonghun (guitar, piano) are modest: "we just wanted to do the music that we wanted to do."
They say when you are young you dig your own grave. This does not seem like the case for these teens yet. They have been repeating the process of running over to the studio right after school, practicing until midnight then returning home for 5 years. At their age, this is something impossible without passion for music.
"It's fun in the studio. Even at school I'm excited about going to the studio. We can try all the music we want to do there. Singing and playing instruments like crazy in the space of our own...its blissful."
Such passion has been transported over to their first album. Their title song "Love Sick," which emphasizes vocal Hongki's brisk voice, is already loved by the teens who have not yet suffered "love sick" and those in early 20s and 30s. "Han Saram man" and "FT Island" etc are also loved for their impresive sound.
The key to their success? Their youthful looks and handsome faces have accelarated their path of popularity. Although a rock band and not a dance group, "Five Treasure Island" can be renamed "FT Boys." The youngest Minhwan is already nicknamed "Little Bi (rain)."
Theres absolutely no way that the girl fans would leave these talanted and pretty boys. Despite that they sang "Love Sick," they fiercely cross their hands in an X saying "no, we dont have girlfriends!"
FT Island will perform at the Summer Big 4 concert on 22nd this month. It is exciting enough that a newly debuted group will be performing for 9000 fans. On top of that they're proud to be with top stars like SG Wannabe, YangPa and See Ya.
"It's like a dream. We want to show to the audience that we are not an idol band but a skilled band. We would do anything to publicize bands. We'll present a hot performance."
