FEEDING WITH A BOTTLE
If the mother is no longer present kittens will have to be bottle-fed. When they are 0-5 weeks old they are unable to eat or drink by themselves. When just born, they have to be given the bottle every 2 hours, day and night. To do this you need a small bottle with a nipple, and special formula like Lactol or KMR (Kitten Replacement Milk) available through the vet or online stores (it depends on where you are situated).
If the kittens are in bad condition and need to be bottle-fed, you can ask the vet for Royal Canin/Waltham Feline Veterinary Diet - Convalescence Support Instant Diet. This is a very high-quality and high-energy prescription diet which can be used for kittens as bottle-feeding or tube-feeding. It's been especially developed for malnourished and recuperating cats and kittens, and can be used for both kitens and the mother if needed.
Never give ordinary cow's milk: it contains too much lactose and causes digestive problems.
How to bottle-feed kittens:
The nipple's opening shouldn't be too big, or the feeding will flow out too fast and the kitten will choke. Place the nipple in it's mouth. Every kitten will start to suckle automatically, in a reflex, so don't interfere and let it find it's way. This way you stimulate the urge to drink.
See to it that they drink enough, and keep an eye on the marking on the bottle.
It's better to give a few smaller feedings - instead of too much in one feeding - to prevent them from vomiting or choking.
Place the kitten in the palm of your hand to keep them warm and give support to their little backs. It also gives them a feeling of comfort and security.
WARNING: Never feed a kitten with a bottle while holding the kitten on it's back. It should be in an upright position, supported by your hand, for instance held against your breast for warmth.
Bottle-feeding schedule for kittens starting at birth:
Weight of kitten How often How much
100 - 200 grams every 2 hours 2,5 to 5 ml with a maximum of 60 ml. per day.
200 - 300 grams every 2 to 3 hours 5 to 12,5 ml with a maximum of 120 ml. per day
300 - 360 grams every 3 hours 12,5-15 ml with a maximum of 120 ml. per day.
360 - 420 grams every 4 hours 15 to 30 ml with a maximum of 200 ml. per day
If they weigh more than the 420 grams in the chart you can try to guess their age and see if they will accept other food too, like Nutrix rice pudding. Adjust the amount according to what they seem to want. Of course don't overfeed, but the kitten must feel satisfied and full after a feeding.
Warning: never give Brinta (wheat product) which has too much fiber and can cause diarrhea. Give only easily digestible porridge like Nutrix, mixed with Litterlac, KMR or Lactol.
Kitten's needs will be different, so if a kitten doesn't drink enough in one feeding, add an extra feeding to the schedule.
You may have to feed newborn kittens every other hour at first, to get them back to the weight that they had at birth.
Pick the kitten up when it's time to feed....don't let it sleep: it needs to get into the rythm so that it will get the necessary nourishment.

tabik kt ko mimi....hrp bebi cpt besar n manje ngan ko bole jd pengganti kucing ko yg mati tuh.....ko jgn putus asa yer....jager bebi kucing same cam bebi m'sia....dulu kucing aku pn gtu gak...die dtg kt kiter mintak susu...kalu x die isap jari kiter...tp la nih...bile dh besar..die gerak aku lg...mintak mkn...pagi td..aku bgn sahur kul 3pg...pastu aku smbg r tdo blk....every 1/2 hr..kucing aku gerak mintak mkn....bygkn....pening kepala aku nk g keje....plg saket ati..tgk die bole smbg tido..aku lak tpakse g keje time2 ujan nih.... |

Just another info untuk Mimi, if anything happen Mimi boley gie Klinik yang berhampiran. Klinik tue
Dr yang uruskan semua Dr. Malay....they all dari UPM.
Dari kedai Dr. Pet....jalan terus dalam jarak 1 Kilometer...akan jumpa Roundabout kan? So dari Round about
tue...Mimi belok kat simpang kiri ( Kiranya belok macam pukul 9 la... ) So kat sebelah kanan ada satu-satunya stesen minyak Pro Jet rite...? So kat belakang projet tue ada 2 blok bangunan kedai. Mimi gie blok yang
belakang skali....kat sebelah kedai pomen motor...ada 1 klinik haiwan nama Mesra Pet Shop...

my newborn kitten update..
rushing balik keje smlm nak tengok my kitten ni..try bancuh susu botol, tapi baby tetap tak reti nak ngap the nipple...so hard...rasa nak menangis pun ada..
then, i try pancing the mom, sambil dia menjamu selera, i hold the baby n bagi dia menyusu kat mom..oklah, dapat la 2/3 minit..itupun tersiksa je si baby..kesian sgt..then, lepas berbuka i try lagi skali, dapat la 2/3 minit lagi menyusu...
sblum tido, i try to push the mom..tapi tak dapatlah, dia dah pandai ngelat, dia tengok i je, trus cabut..then, terpaksa la i feed the baby sikit2 susu formula..tapi tak sampai hati, siksa tengok dia..
pagi ni, i try skali lagi feed the baby, but failed..i cuma berjaya dapatkan the mom just for 1-2 mins...kesian sgt..then i terpaksa tinggalkan and go to work...
i'm hoping that Allah will show me a way to help the baby..Insyaallah...semoga baby mampu bertahan hingga i balik keje..i dah pesan kat the mom, supaya pleaseee susukan baby..taktau la...sometimes, i believe that the mom will hear me

mi dah sumbat..bila sumbat, trus picit botol..dpt la masuk skit, byk yg kluar susunye..pastu, byk kali nak sumbat kesian sgt, si kecik tu meronta-ronta..langsung tak reti nak nyonyot..i guna tu puting kuning..maybe dia too small utk tu... |

azam harini nak try feed the baby lagi, n hope dia dpt khasiat susu dgn cara ni..sometimes kesian jugak tengok si ibu susuannya tu, muka tension je bila mi panggil dia mintak menyusu..karang tekanan perasaan pulak si ibu tu.. |

mana la nak lekat puting tu dlm mulut dia..kalo tak sumbat n tak picit, memang puting ke mana, mulut dia ke mana..itupun nak kena hold badan dia kuat2...maklum la baby tu pun separuh tapak tangan je besarnya..too small la.. |

my newborn kitten last update..
balik keje smlm hati mi tak sedap bila sampai depan pintu pagar rumah sbb langsung tak dengar suara dia menangis..mi terus bergegas masuk, jenguk dalam box..cara tidur dia lain sgt, mi dah paham benar cara newborn kitten tido, bukan macam tu...mata dah nak berair, hb sempat lagi pujuk, "apa2 hal, sabar k"...ok je lah, mi bawak masuk makanan2 utk berbuka bli kat pasar ramadhan...blom sempat buka tudung, mi pegi balik kat box..sentuh je badan baby, mi teriak kuat2...badan dia dah keras.. ..mi terus berlari masuk rumah, nangis sepuas hati, terkilan sgt sebab tak mampu nak tolong baby survive..masa tu my other 2 kitten yg dah besar n mom berlari ikut mi masuk rumah, tiga tu tercegat depan mi, mata terbeliak tengok mi nangis kuat giler..dorang mungkin heran and sedih tengok mi macam tu..makin kuat mi nangis, makin dekat mom tu datang, sambil tengok mi tak berkelip...
hb mi pujuk je suh sabar, "kite dah berusaha, mungkin ini yg terbaik utk dia"..akhirnya mi ok, 30 mins sblum berbuka, hb mi gali lubang kat depan rumah, sedih sgt nak tanam dia..masa tu la jiran mi datang, tanya kenapa tadi?dia dah agak dah, ni mesti ada kitten mati...
sampai malam mi terdengar2 suara dia menangis..asyik tengok je tempat box tu diletakkan..apakan daya mi tak mampu nak tolong dia..takde mood harini... |
