hurmm buat hard drive scan surface area....then dia mark kat bad sector tu jadi windows takkan gunakan tempat tu..selamat pc pun tak leh nak hang & Slow.. |

Bad sectors are marked by software such as scandisk. As the program is testing the data occasionally it hits an area on the disk that cannot normally be read - hence it marks it as 'bad'
Normally these are horrendous things that cannot be removed as they are actual physical imperfections on the disk - be wary that if these show up during scans, your disk may be approaching the end of it's life, backup and check frequently!
However, scandisk and programs of that ilk are not perfect and occasionally they will mark sectors as bad when they aren't. A few programs will check for this (I do not know of any offhand, though) - but I do know that Format will do it when formatting a drive. You have to supply the parameter to test bad clusters, though (/C or /T)
Note: Scandisk marks bad sectors so that the Operating system no longer uses the clusters. In essence it's a safeguard so that no data gets lost.
Hope that helps... basically, bad sectors are bad - they are physical, but marked logically on the disk. |

An HDD usually has warranty on it. Generally its 1 or 3 years. You have to download a diagnostic utility from the HDD manufacturer and run it - if it comes up with an error code you can use that to return the drive.
OR back up your drive. Scandisk, or Norton Disk Doctor, with a surface scan will mark the bad sectors so that they are not used. They will also attempt to move the data in those sectors to good ones. You can attempt to recover them with a switch on the Format command. You can reformat until the cows come home, but the fact of the matter is the drive is dying, usually bad sectors keep multiplying.
It's been my experience that when you start developing bad sectors on the typical IDE disk, it's time to shop for the replacement. Backup and buy a new drive.

hard disk selepas tahun 98 (tak silap aku), ada backup cluster, ianya akan mengantikan bad sector untuk kegunaan seterusnya. Jika hard disk tersebut dah detect bad sector, that mean reserved cluster dah abis, dan kalau under warranty pergilah tukar..... |

kiranya maca ada cendawan/rumput/lalang tengah tumbung atas padang laa .. makin lama makin banyak .. |
