cuba baca one of the comment kat uk daily mail ni:-
"A friend of mine went to China on business three years ago. He was met by Chinese businessmen in a driver driven car. As they were driving in heavy traffic he was shocked to see a body lying beside the road. It was a woman who had been hit and killed by a car. No one was dealing with it. He pointed it out to his companions. They told him not to worry the police would come and 'collect' the body in due course. That was in morning. In the late afternoon they drove back the same route and he saw the body still lying there. My friend decided not to do business with a country that was so casual about the death of a human. My father spent five years in the East. He always said that life was very cheap there."

Bila aku dapat tau pasal berita ni,rasa tersentuh sangat.. Then aku teringat kawan aku yang tinggal kat China lepas dia habis PMR (masa tu dia umur 15,sekarang dah 26 tahun). Actually kawan aku ni ayah dia orang China, mak dia orang sabah. Aku tanya dia sendiri, betul ke budaya China macam tu.. Ni jawapan dia yang aku copy paste dari facebook, kalau sapa2 rasa aku reka2 jawapan nih, nanti lah aku print screen pulak.
Ni jawapan dia :
ya dear this is true. im not insulting china itself since my father is from china but the reality is there, china ppl will not helping u unless they do know u (family, close friends, etc) but if u dont know them,u better dont help. maybe its sound cruel but this is what happened in china. mula2 sy rasa tak biasa sebab sy membesar di sabah dari lahir sampai umur sy 15, sy suda terbiasa di sabah, bila org susa, kita bantu..tp di china tidak begitu.. sy tidak salahkan org yg lalu lalang tidak bantu that poor kid,if u can see (dlm video) mereka semua stop dan melihat, dlm hati mereka pasti rasa mau bantu tp mereka sudah diajar dan sudah budaya mereka, kalau mereka bantu, itu bermakna that kid adalah tggjwb mereka (bayar kos ubat, amik risiko kalau budak tu mati, kena saman lg)..perempuan tua yg angkut budak itu pun takut2, dia tengok dulu sekeliling, bila dia tgk x da org perhati, baru dia angkat dan letak tepi cepat2...kenapa? sbb dia takut kalau family budak tu nampak dan dia mesti btggjwb... so sad this kind of tradisi happen di china dan sy rasa kita di malaysia lebih prihatin dlm kes mcm ni. Just sharing. |

Recently, several incidents of "avoiding good deeds"
took place successively in mainland China.
China's mainland media commented on the issue,
saying that people in China dare not do good deeds
after the case of Peng Yu in Nanjing.
Scholars analyzed that for the past 60 years,
Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been destroying
the traditional concept of "goodness,"
pointing this as the fundamental reason, and that
the moral system' reconstruction is yet an endless journey.
Chutian Metropolis Daily reported that on the morning
of September 3, an 88-year-old man in Wuhan
fell over at the entrance to a green-grocery market.
But none of the onlookers dared to offer help.
One hour later, the old man died of asphyxiation
due to airway blockage from his nosebleed.
Chongqing Cqnews.net also reported another incident.
On Sept. 5, although dozens of onlookers stood around,
no one dared to help an injured man in his 80s to a hospital
for treatment, which was 50 meters away.
In the end, an emergency vehicle arrived
to take him to the hospital.
An anonymous onlooker commented that in recent years,
many incidents occurred where people offered help,
but then became falsely accused and sued by the injured
person or their family. Now, nobody dares to offer help.
A case in Tianjin, now awaiting the final verdict,
is one such example of a good deed taken advantage of.
In Tianjin, Xu Yunhe helped hold up an elderly man
who had fallen over.
But later the court ordered Xu to compensate the elder
with RMB100,000.
There is also a similar case in Nantong.
Long-haul truck driver, Yin Hongbin in Nantong, Zhenjiang,
helped an old lady who had been hit by a car on the road.
However, Yin was accused by the elderly woman
of being the perpetrator.
Fortunately for Yin, video surveillance provided evidence
that he was not involved in the accident.
According to the analysis of Dr. Liu Kaiming,
Director of the Institute of Contemporary Observation (ICO),
shortage of social security is an important reason
behind all these cases.
Dr. Liu Kaiming (Director, ICO): "The elderly falling over,
especially women, show more tendency to take advantage
of those who aid them. A very important reason
is that most of these elderly people have no social security.
In this case, she will naturally fear and try to get hold
of somebody to cover her medical expenses."
China's media said that "good deeds without good payback"
is derived from the 2006 case of Peng Yu in Nanjing.
Peng found an elderly lady, Xu, who had fallen over
at a bus station. Peng helped her, taking her to the hospital.
But Xu claimed that it was Peng that knocked her down,
and demanded Peng cover her medical expenses.
Dr. Liu Kaiming believes that the case of Peng Yu
sent a very bad message to the community in China.
Dr. Liu Kaiming: "Although there were so many witnesses
to prove Peng's innocence, the judge found Peng Yu guilty.
The judge said, "If you didn't hit her, why did you help her?"
This is questioning human nature.
It conveyed a message that even the law does not believe
in people's inherent goodness and willingness to help."
Dr. Liu analyzed a deeper reason. Mainstream ideology and
social values were fostered by CCP during its 60-year ruling.
Dr. Liu Kaiming: "Since 1949, for the first 30 years,
CCP advocated class struggle across China.
That is, you fight me and I fight you. In this case, there is
indifference among the Chinese people. Even hatred.
In the last 30 years, CCP placed more emphases on money.
Such two ideologies or we can say, "mainstream life values,"
can distort people's psychology, the basic human
conscience, and willingness to offer help."
Web writer Jing Chu from Guangxi, commented that
the foundation of such phenomenon is the political system.
CCP's authoritarian regime suppressed the human nature,
causing people to form a dual, hypocritical personality.
Jing Chu (Web writer, Guangxi): "For the past 60 years,
an education of hypocrisy was implemented in China,
that is just a process of fostering the dual personality.
There is also an education of hatred.
The Chinese people have been educated
with class struggle for decades.
