Kareena is crazy for Shahrukh
Kareena still seems to be carrying her Don hangover. The Kapoor lass is so fixated with SRK phenomenon that you can see her going gaga over King Khan at almost all the public appearances.
Says Kareena, "Frankly speaking, I did the Yeh mera dil song in Don only because of Shah Rukh. When Farhan Akhtar offered me the song I wondered if doing a guest appearance was right for me. But the temptation for doing a song with Shah Rukh got the better of me."
We also hear that her ultimate dream is to do a love story with Shah Rukh Khan but her only regret is that she can't do run-of-the-mill films any more.
She says, "I've done enough films without conviction. And it shows in my performances. Unlike my sister Karisma, who could look convincing in any role, I've to be convinced to look convincing. That's why I've said yes to only two films Mani Rathnam's Lajjo and Zoya Akhtar's forthcoming film."

Sanjay Dutt is Yaaron Ka Yaar
Sanjay Dutt's emotional if impractical decision to cancel all shootings until the court verdict on his TADA case, was put on hold on Wednesday.
Dutt made an exception and shot for Apoorva Lakhia's Shoot-out At Lokhandwala for just one day.
"And that too, only because he's shooting for his dearest pal Sanjay Gupta's production. It's got nothing to do with director Apoorva Lakhia," reveals a source.
"When Sanju realized that the combination shots with Mr Amitabh Bachchan and 35 other members of the cast for which he was needed, would be impossible to arrange again, he immediately agreed to drop his rule against shooting until the court verdict.
Sanju is very emotional about his friends, and would do anything for them. In fact he'll be playing Sanjay Gupta in a film that Gupta will direct. It recreates the whole episode from Gupta's life when he had a near-fatal car accident," reveals the source.
Sanjay Dutt shot throughout on 1 November at Mumbai's Eliphinston College in front of hundreds of cheering bystanders. He was in good spirits and kept joking and laughing between shots. His rapport with the Big B was apparent all through.
Both father and son Bachchan dote on Dutt and would never say no to him for anything.
Dutt is the co-producer of Shoot-out At Lokhandwala.

When Aishwarya Rai stopped a War
For war movie veteran J P Dutta it was Aishwarya Rai who made him change the genre of his films leading to the remake of the 1981 Muzaffar Ali classic 'Umrao Jan'.
"Aishwarya is my Helen of Troy whose face stopped me from going to war again," quipped Dutta, director of war-zone magnum opuses like 'Border' and 'LoC'.
At the premier of the film here yesterday attended by the film's stars Abhishekh Bachchan and Aishwarya, the director said the former Miss World made him change his genre when she finally consented to do the movie, he had been planning for 13 years.
On her part Aishwarya, who flew in from Mumbai after celebrating her 33rd birthday on November one, laughed off queries as to whether she would be a contender for the Oscars in future.
Asked when he and Aishwarya were getting married, Abhishek said "You tell us, since you have been telling us that since the past year."
Questioned on his being branded the "sexiest man in Asia", Bachchan junior said, "it is not true, but thank you for making me feel embarrassed." Abhishekh topped the list of the "50 sexiest men" in Asia in a survey by Eastern Eye, Britain's most popular Asian newspaper.
"It's shocking. Are people blind?" he had responded then.

See what Ash did on her Birthday!
Bollywood heartthrob Aishwarya Rai celebrated her 33rd birthday on Wednesday with a special midnight screening of her latest movie "Umrao Jaan" and by spending time with her family after a visit to Siddhi Vinayak temple.
"Since she has not been in the city on her birthday for the past few years, she is making the most of it and spending time with her family," told Ash's business manager Hari Singh.
A night before her birthday, director J.P. Dutta held a special screening of "Umrao Jaan", which is releasing Friday, at Film City for the families of lead actors - Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan.
A viewer told that, after watching the film, Aishwarya got so emotional that she had tears in her eyes. Another viewer said she should have carried a box of tissues to watch the film.
Here is what some of her colleagues in the industry had to say about the actress, whose "Umrao Jaan" releases this Friday:
Rituparno Ghosh: Aishwarya is as beautiful in her heart as she's in her face. Why just on her birthday, I wish her all the best always. Hope marriage happens this year.
R. Madhavan: I've worked with Ash in "Guru" and she is everything that she's supposed to be - beautiful from inside and outside. More than me, my infant son has a crush on her. He just couldn't keep away from her during "Guru". So, from little Vedant, my wife Sarita and me here's wishing you all happiness.
Randeep Hooda: I think she's amazingly graceful. Is it her birthday today? Great! All the best.
Kangana Ranaut: I just can't stop looking at her. She's gorgeous. I wonder how anyone can be so beautiful. I'm dying to see her in "Umrao Jaan". What a fabulous birthday gift she has received from J.P. Dutta.
The anticipation for the movie has been heightened by media speculation that Aishwarya and Abhishek are set to replicate their romance in real life and will be tying the knot.
The past year has seen the release of two international movies featuring Aishwarya -- "Mistress of Spices" and Jagmohan Mundhra's "Provoked".
She has several high profile releases to look forward to in the coming months, including "Dhoom 2" and "The Last Legion", an epic drama set during the end of the Roman empire that features her alongside Colin Firth and Ben Kingsley.

I feel I'm already married to Amisha
Vikram Bhatt's acutely autobiographical film Ankahee didn't get the response he hoped for. But he's determined to do the cinema he believes in.
"No more dishonest films for me. In my ready-for-release Red I've done a thriller in authentic shades. And now I've just started a film Life Main Kabhi Kabhi with a very interesting ensemble cast where the question of happiness is discussed."
The story of five friends played by Dino Morea, Sammir Dattani, Aftab Shivdasani, Nauheed Cyrusi, and Anjori Alagh, is Vikram's first episodic film.
"I know episodic films are in vogue after Crash. And we've some really interesting episodic films in Hindi like Naseer's Yun Hota To Kya Hota and Nikhil Advani's Salaam-e-Ishq.
But I chose to use that format for the first time in Life Main Kabhi Kabhie because I believe a question like the nature of happiness needs a telescopic view. You can't talk about a theme as huge as happiness in an intimate linear style."
Vikram is really nervous about the new format. "I've done innumerable films. But in this case I'm shooting five different lives on different nights and days. It's disorienting and confusing. Luckily for me I've a terrific ensemble cast.
Dino Morea with whom I did his first film Raaz is back with me. Aftab Shivdasani with whom I've done more films than V Shantaram did with Sandhya, is back. Nauheed Cyrusi ,I've worked with earlier, and she's good. Anjori Alag (Maya Alagh's daughter) is a new discovery.
She came to me through a friend of mine. She has done a lot of theatre in the US. But the real discovery of this film is Sammir Dattani. I'm completely surprised by his screen presence.
Sammir is going to take the audience by surprise. He's very very talented. I hope the film works for both of us. It tells us happiness doesn't come from material things but from people who love you. It does contain my values, but not any part of my life."
Interestingly other directors like Sanjay Gupta are making introspective films. Explains Vikram, "All of us who've gone through a gamut of techno-wizardry have discovered the value of an honest story. In Life Mein Kabhi Kabhi there will be a lot of silences."
Regrets about Ankahee? "I needed to get my own story out of my system. And I did. I wish it worked better. I can't say autobiographical films don't work. Mahesh Bhatt's Arth did. I won't hesitate in putting another chunk of my life on screen, provided it's unique to the audience and not just me.
I learnt something great out of Ankahee |

Indian film star Aishwarya Rai plays thief in new action movie 'Dhoom 2'
A former Miss World, Rai describes her character as a sassy girl who wants to be one of the guys.
With Hrithik Roshan as her co-star, Rai's role is high on style and fashion, she told the Mumbai Mirror newspaper.
"I play this petty thief who thinks she's pretty cool. My character thinks she's smarter than the smartest," said Rai. "She's a sassy girl and at the same time she's a cool dude."
The movie is a sequel to the 2004 hit "Dhoom" ("Big Bang" ), in which a gang of bike thieves rob rich Mumbai businessmen.
It was shot largely in Brazil and South Africa and also features Abhishek Bachchan and Bipasha Basu.
Rai said the movie was "high on the hot and sexy elements" and actors had to look great in every scene.
"It was just the need of the hour. We had to constantly pay attention to our hair, clothes and body language," she said.

Indian actress Kareena Kapoor to be choosy about new films
Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor says she will sign a new movie only if she is convinced by its script.
Kapoor has signed only two films for the next year as she decided to be careful about new projects, Kapoor told the Mumbai Mirror newspaper.
"I've done enough films without conviction. And it shows in my performance," she said.
A popular actress, Kapoor got good reviews for her performance in "Omkara," Bollywood's version of Shakespeare's "Othello."
The lure of working with Khan prompted her cameo in "Don," a remake of a Hindi-movie classic about a mafia boss, where she played a woman prepared to take on a gangster to avenge her brother's death.
Frankly speaking, she said, she did a sexy dance-song in "Don" only because of Khan.
"My ultimate wish is to do a love story with Shah Rukh Khan," she said.
She briefly wondered whether it was right to agree to do a small role, but "the temptation of doing a song with Shah Rukh got the better of me," Kapoor said.

MAHIMA READY FOR ART FILMS
'Pardes' girl Mahima Chaudhary was a model before she became a Bollywood actress, once appearing with Aishwarya Rai in a Pepsi commercial. Her first breakthrough performance, where she won rave reviews, was 'Pardes' (1997) as Ganga, the love interest of two men played by Shah Rukh Khan and Apoorva Agnihotri. Unlike most top actresses in India, Chaudhry did not mind playing a second fiddle in films like 'Dhadkan' (2000) and 'Dil Kya Kare' (1999) & 'Deewane'. Apart from her role in 'Pardes', she also won acclaim for her role as Kavita, the loving wife of a man (played by Ajay Devgan) in 'Dil Kya Kare'. She was nominated for Filmfare Awards for that role. The cute lady was recently in the national capital for South Asia Film Festival.
How does it feel to be part of South Asia Film Festival?
It feels great. It's a good effort. I think we should have more festivals; it gives an opportunity to so many film makers who are unable to find exhibitors, to find a platform where they can show there film. Even the distributors, who are looking for different projects that are ready to go to these festivals, find them very convenient. I think it's a very healthy concept and should be encouraged. I like the way the media turned up and they got support from other countries. The concept is about crossing borders, living in harmony , it's a very positive festival.
Will this film festival trend last long?
Festivals have been part of the global market for a very long time; that's the way they market smaller films. It's a commercial get-together where they look for buyers. Also buyers who are attending the films are looking for good projects and the actors are there to promote. This is especially for independent producers and not the studio films. It's something that Indians have just woken up to, they have started taking part and sending their films; they have become aware of so many festivals. They wanted to make films and have global audience. These festivals provide opportunities.
How should the Indian audience be made aware of art films?
I think it is remarkable that Madhur Bhandarkar is here at the festival. Some of the people might categorise his films as art films. However, he has got commercial success for his films. So, the gap is narrowing down. So, it's becoming difficult to judge a film as an art film, because once any art film is a success, it's tagged as a commercial film.
Would you like to work in art films?
Yes, I would like to because those subjects are always different, that's why they are made on a smaller budget because their directors don't want to take any risk financially. The story content is so high that you really don't need that fanfare; it's normally based on reality.
What are your upcoming projects?
My upcoming projects are 'Hope and A Little Sugar' opposite Vikram Chatwal. This is doing rounds of festivals. It's based on 9/11. And, the other one is 'Kudiyon Ka Hai Zamana'. This is a commercial film of metro females living out there.
When was the last time you had rendezvous with yourself?
It's been a long time. And for me it means doing anything that you love at that moment; sometimes just sitting quietly can give you a lot of peace, sometimes watching TV and switching channels. Even while walking with my dog gives me a lot of peace and this is something that I want to do.

A HAT TRICK OF FLOPS OF AISH & ABHISHEK
'Main Ek Ghagh Aurat Hoon, Aur Main Ghaat Ghaat Ka Paani Peeye Hoon'. This is the opening line of the novel 'Umrao Jaan' written by Mirza Hadi Ruswa that compiles the voyage of a dancer from her abduction in childhood to her return to the same place. 'Umrao Jaan' was a famous dancer (Tawaif) of Lucknow and she was very learned in literature and dance. That was the time when sons of Nawabs used to visit Kothas to learn Tehzib (etiquettes). 'Umrao Jaan' is a historical character in the sense that it depicts lifestyle of the period of India's first war of Independence. Cut to 2006. Director J P Dutta vouches to make this novel into a film and he also insists that this is not a remake of the one made by director Muzaffar Ali in 1981.
The question of testing a remake on the box office has resurfaced after 'Don'. But, if 'Don' could manage to recover its cost, 'Umrao Jaan' may not as it doesn't have a Shah Rukh Khan. This 'Umrao Jaan' was dreamt by J P Dutta some two decades back. He has lived this screenplay all through his career so far. His father wrote the script even before Muzaffar Ali had started making his film. So, it must have been written afresh and couldn't have similarities. Of course, Muzaffar Ali's film was a classic with Rekha's marvelous acting, Asha's mellifluous voice, Khayyam's melodious music and overall an honest effort to present a historical character on celluloid). J P Dutta's 'Umrao Jaan' is no less glamorous but the question arises if it's worth watching?
When I watch it in a cinema hall of Old Delhi the film's first show, I expect a large gathering of Muslims as the majority of them live in that area. Instead, I find a noticeable number of eunuchs who came their in groups to see Aishwarya as a Tawaif. The film moves on the same track in the beginning. A teenager Ameeran, daughter of area's local officer is kidnapped by a goon named Dilawar.
He sells this girl to Khanam Jaan (Shabana Azmi) who runs a kotha in Lucknow. The girl hesitates to return to her past life but slowly starts giving in and uses her brilliance to learn Shayari and dance from learned teachers. She is given a new name of Umrao (Aishwarya Rai). Nawab invites a dancer from Khanam's group to perform in her palace and Khanam chooses Umrao over her own daughter (Divya Dutta). Umrao wins the mehfil and also the heart of the Nawab's son, Sultan (Abhishek Bachchan).
Sultan to is besotted by Umrao's talents and beauty and visits her next day. In Nawab Sultan, Khanam finds a rich fortune and asks Umrao to make Sultan fall in love with her so that he brings in more and more money. But, instead of winning Abhishek, Umrao falls in real love. But the fate has it that Sultan is thrown out of his haveli and Khanam insults him for not being in a position to spend money. The love story is interrupted in between by dacoit Faiz Ali (Suniel Shetty) who is later captured by the police. Having lost her love, Umrao visits her native place and thinks of joining her family there. However, her brother throws her out of the home because she has been a tawaif.
The original story of Umrao in the novel is different from that of the film. J P Dutta makes Nawab Sultan meet Faiz on his own. He also cuts down the Kanpur and Unnao sequences. Gauhar Mirza's character has been changed for the worse too. J P Dutta has said that he is making a screen adaptation of the original novel and not remaking the last film based on the novel. J P Dutta has also done many mistakes in the making of the film. He never establishes a Kotha in the film.
Even other locations look artificial with many ornamental plants in the backdrop. The production design is such that you even find an India handpump in the film! J P Dutta also misses the local costume designs and culture of Lucknow and the surrounding area and many characters in the film. Besides, the characters deliver their dialogues in Bhojpuri instead of Awadhi. The film has grandeur but it looks unreal. Abhishek Bachchan wearing a turban like that of a Rajput has generated a major controversy in Lucknow as Nawabs of Lucknow always wore a cap and not a turban.
J P Dutta also falters in the casting of the film. An interesting character of Gauhar Mirza played by Naseeruddin Shah in Muzaffar's film has been assigned to Puru Raj Kumar. Aishwarya in Umrao' role tries her best and almost comes a winner. But she has her limitations. She has never been even close to this type of culture; but she has battled for the character. Costume designer Anna Singh needs a crash course in Nawabi costumes. Aishwarya showing her cleavage in almost every scene doesn't reflect that era. Abhishek Bachchan who started his career with J P Dutta's 'Refugee' lets down his director again. He has a stiff face throughout the film, and looks a courageous Pathan not a prince who will fall in love with a beautiful Tawaif. He too needs some lessons on Indian history.
Suniel Shetty is such a good actor that every time he comes on screen you can really make out that he is acting. But, Shabana Azmi as Khanam Jaan (her mother played the same role in Muzaffar's film) has scored maximum. She is the only actor who has slipped into the skin of her character. Music of the film is too good. Alka Yagnik has changed her meter to sing these songs and Anu Malik's compositions are just superb. Overall, J. P. Dutta's 'Umrao Jaan' doesn't have a bright future at the box office. People reject Aishwarya as Umrao even before seeing the film. Moreover, the pairing of Aish and Junior B has been a disaster in earlier films, namely, 'Dhai Akshar Prem Ke' and 'Kuch Na Kaho' too. 'Umrao Jaan' may be a hat trick flop for this couple. Better luck in 'Dhoom 2' and 'Guru'!

ISHA GOES DE-GLAM FOR 'SHABRI'
Bollywood "Khallas girl" Isha Koppikar made sparkling screen show this month in this year's most stylish action potboiler 'Don'. It was her first big film in which she was offered lead character after being relegated to item songs and second leads. Ram Gopal Verma's 'Shabri' is expected to be another path breaking success for this spicy "Khallas" girl. The film is a woman-oriented film where Isha plays the lead protagonist. In the film, she portrays the character of "bandit queen" who avenges on her enemies and the film shapes as an engrossing vendetta saga.
Isha essays the lead character of "Shabri", a deglamorised feminine outlaw who fights against the injustice and atrocities done to her and her family. It may sound strange that she has undergone severe make up to give de-glam look to the character. 'Shabri' is Ram Gopal Verma's most ambitious project of next year after the much sensationalized 'Sholay'. In Farhan Akhtar's 'Don', she has portrayed the character of a least glorified "Anita" (from original 'Don') with full grace and splendor. Isha believes that 'Shabri' will bring new horizons to her career and also path breaking success for the film industry in coming months.

JOHN, BIPASHA TO SIZZLE IN 'GOAL'
Hot pair John Abraham and Bipasha Basu made news lately for split up but there is good news for them and their fans. It is believed that the pair will work together in Vivek Agnihotri's next film 'Goal'. The young director made sparkling presence in the tinsel town with his debut venture 'Chocolate' (Anil Kapoor, Suniel Shetty, Irfan Khan, Emraan Hashmi and Tanushree Dutta) this year. John and Bips have mixed fortunes of working together with splendid success of 'Jism' and disastrous failures of 'Madhoshi' and 'Aitbaar'.
John has already signed 'Goal' but Bips is still to decide. However, the pair is likely to sizzle in 'Goal', according to reliable sources. Earlier, Bipasha was offered role opposite to John in Anurag Kashyap's 'No Smoking' but she declined the offer. In the meanwhile, John will be looking forward to his forthcoming releases 'Kabul Express', 'Babul' and 'Salaam-e-Ishq' in coming months. John has also signed Deepa Mehta's next 'The Exclusion' opposite Amisha Patel and Seema Biswas. The film will be bilingual (Hindi and English), and is a social drama based on real life incident that took place in 1914 where Indians were denied entry into Canada. This is to recall that John made an enormous contribution as an actor in Deepa Mehta's highly acclaimed 'Water' which has already got an entry into Oscars as a Canadian movie .

揔awan lelaki juga tak ramai sehingga saya bertemu Syed sewaktu menjalankan tugasan membabitkan pengurusan majlis di Bintulu, Sarawak, hampir setahun lalu.
揝ejak itu kami sering bekerjasama dan menjadi teman rapat. Pada awalnya hubungan kami tak lebih sebagai seorang kawan.
揝egala-galanya berubah apabila saya lihat hubungannya dengan anak-anak saya semakin akrab. Syed berjaya memenangi hati saya selepas melihat kemesraannya melayani kerenah anak-anak saya, |

Abhishek and Aishwarya in same car!
Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai turned up at 慓uru' music release party traveling in same car. In fact Abhishek Bachchan, driving the car and Aishwarya was sitting in the back seat. And the story doesn't end here. As the car reached at the venue, we spotted Big B, sitting in the passenger seat besides Abhishek. A full 慘ajra re....' team, as got down from the car, the whole attention centered on them. Industry grapevine insists the Bachchans actually don't want to keep Aishwarya far from their watchful eyes, after all when the lady is going to play very important part in their family in near future. If still Bachchans and Rais go on denying rumours about Abhishek-Aishwarya's soon-to-happen marriage, we are helpless and hopeless too.
