Man City agree fee for Everton defender Lescott

Everton have confirmed they have agreed a fee with Manchester City for the sale of defender Joleon Lescott.

Lescott: City move edging closer.
The England international is expected to undergo a medical tomorrow after City finally came up with a bid which met the Merseysiders' valuation of the player.
Having rejected two previous offers - the first about £18m - Everton are reported to have accepted £24m from City for Lescott.
Lescott will now meet with Manchester City and will sign subject to him successfully negotiating personal terms and passing a medical.
Toffees boss David Moyes was unhappy that the Eastlands club, bankrolled by Abu Dhabi's multi-maire Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed al-Nahyan, were not prepared to pay what he thought was the going rate from the outset.
Asked if the Lescott deal was well advanced the Everton boss said following Sunday's 1-0 Barclays Premier League defeat at Burnley: "If they (City) say they are quite far on I'm sure they are.
"But we shouldn't have been asked to wait this length of time for an amount of cash we think was the correct value for the player. Real Madrid came in with the money (£80m for Cristiano Ronaldo) for Manchester United the week after the end of the season.
"If the money had been offered in June it would have been a lot easier for us. The time is against us (to find a replacement).''
Moyes has repeatedly stated his desire to keep his best players at Goodison Park, however Lescott submitted a transfer request nearly two weeks ago.
That request was quickly rejected, with the Toffees boss again reiterating he was unwilling to sell the player.
But Moyes has been unimpressed with the player's attitude and has not involved him in their last two matches - the midweek Europa League qualifying win over Sigma Olomouc and Sunday's defeat at Burnley. |

OFFICIAL: Sylvinho Joins Manchester City On Year-Long Deal
The Brazilian is now a Citizen...
Manchester City have today officially confirmed the signing of veteran Brazilian left-back Sylvinho on a one-year contract. The 35-year-old joins after his contract with Spanish champions Barcelona expired at the end of last season.
City manager Mark Hughes was delighted to welcome the defender to the club today, informing the club's official website, "Sylvinho has a wealth of experience at the very top level, having represented Brazil and played for some of the very top clubs in Europe.
"When the chance presented itself to bring him to Manchester City as a free agent I saw it as representing excellent business for us. Sylvinho won the European Cup last season at Barcelona and he will strengthen our defensive options."
The Brazilian has extensive Premier League experience, having played 55 times for Arsenal between 1999 and 2001. He has also won six caps for his country, and has collected three La Liga titles in a career which has also seen him play for Celta Vigo and Corinthians.
He will wear the number 16 shirt at Eastlands.
